If not can someone move it?
I bought a Japanese Nissan last week and it has one of those Japanese navigation systems built in.
I figure there must be something interesting I could do with the components / places where they sit to pimp my ride a bit?
It has:
7" Pop up screen which disappears into the dashboard.
Hidden/mounted DVD rom (1 x din) in a secret compartment above the glovebox
Standard Stereo/cd played
Sweet as factory speakers with tweeters.
I was thinking:
Replace the DVD Rom thing with an in car 1 din DVD player, run a splitter on the video to the rear seats (for the kids) and have two screens (stored under seats)and one to the pop up screen (three screens) Ideally the in car dvd plays from external HDD which would also be wired in, probably to glove box (so I can lock).
The current DVD rom/tv thing comes up as the AUX on the main stereo, so I would tab into that again, but maybe split the stereo and dvd player audio outputs and then control via fader. eg. Let the kids watch the DVD's in the back with the 'back fade' DVD volume whilst me and the missus are in the front listining to the Stokes on front fade.
Anyone else done something like this with the japanese gears ?
The pop up screen looks a bit dated (circa 2003) so I might replace that with a nice TFT from ebay...pretty cheap.
Interested in your ideas too !
