chaoscreater:

That's a pretty good deal. They aren't getting anymore stock because Sony will be releasing the XM4 in August, so they're just getting rid of as much XM3 stock as they can before then.

I thought as much, thanks for confirming 🙂

ETA: I bought a pair for my partner's birthday at JB a day after I saw them at Noel since I had JB vouchers to use. They matched the price based on my photo even if no advertised online. Not sure whether it's common practice, the salesperson who did is my usual go to when I buy from them. He's always been really helpful the few times I've had to return stuff and ordering out of stock items.

Do any owners of these headphones (or even the QC35s) regularly use them while walking on city streets? And, if so, how much of the noise of your footsteps is communicated to your ears?

I've found many over-ear (and even some on-ear phones) amplify the sound of footsteps as a loud and heavily distracting 'boomth' noise. As keen as I am on a pair, my main use would be on a daily walk, so this is critical; trying them out in a store on lino isn't necessarily a decent replica of outside usage, so any feedback from users on this would be much appreciated.

I rarely use my QC35 II, because I value noise canceling over comfort, so I can only speak for the XM3. BTW, the XM3 is comfy as well, you'll be fine wearing them for hours.

Anyway, I couldn't really hear my footsteps at all when wearing the XM3. You can control the noise canceling levels to your liking (up to 20 adjustment levels), so it's really quite flexible.

I walk with mine a lot. You won't here a thing. With the NC on the highest you won't hear too much traffic let alone yourself...

Only thing I find that mine amplify is chewing. Walking is silent,

Wind also gets them a bit upset when it gets quite strong when out with them on, but not more than without noice cancellation.

Thanks, guys - good to hear they're fine for walking, and will avoid eating when they're on, if I end up with a pair!

I find I have to sit my current pair of on-ear phones slightly off the ears to avoid the noise of steps being transmitted, and find my wired Focal over-ear phones even worse for this - just wanted to ensure I didn't replicate this issue.

It wasn't until I had to use some non NC headphones in Wellington last week that I again realised just how effective the Sony are at blocking out city traffic - esp. buses. I had to run the non NC at a much higher volume just to compensate.

For the sake of your hearing, please don't do this.

Set the volume to an appropriate level in a normal room. If you're needing to turn them up to hear them over other noise your  damaging your hearing
