tchart: What about this?

http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?z=p&p=SURLAS1006&name=Laser-PW-USB101-BLK-black-10-USB-Port-Charging-Sta

They even seem them at the Warehouse although for around $80.

With no mention of smart charging capabilities to auto detect the type of device that product may be no more useful than a $2 shop charger. It looks quite simply like a device simply putting out voltage on a USB port, which is IMHO pretty much useless these days

The most important aspect of a charger these days isn't the power output, it's whether it can detect the type of device and charge at full speed. This reason alone is my most USB ports in planes, airport lounges, hotels and cars within the past couple of years are effectively useless - even if they output 2.1A, they won't necessarily charge a modern device at any more than 450mA unless you supply your own fast charge adapter dongle.

I don't want to sound like an Anker fanboi, but the simply reality is right now their products are the best you can buy. Period. Nothing else on the market comes clone. No matter what device you plug in you get brilliant charge rates at a price far less than most of the competition.

That's not to say they don't have competition, and there are a few replica Anker chargers starting to appear on Amazon and I'm sure it won't be long before others have caught up. I'm not sure what Anker can then do to innovate - but they do have a fantastic name for themselves.

I'm in the US at present and have a big box of Anker stuff for myself and a few other people in the other Anker thread who contacted me when I offered to bring stuff back.

As above, the beauty of the Anker is using any cable you can get from an electrical shop instead of the US cable it comes with...

Yep, the Ankers use a standard figure-8 cable. Cost me about $3 from office supply shop to buy the NZ/AU plug equivalent, plus I have the US one it shipped with for when I go to Hawaii later this year.

I've just ordered 6x of the Photive 50W, 6x USB port intelligent rapid chargers from Amazon at US$22.90 as linked above or here (hopefully via the Geekzone portal):

http://www.amazon.com/Photive-Desktop-Charger-Intelligent-Technology/dp/B00LMIA9L4/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1431739221&sr=1-1-fkmr0&keywords=Phototive+50Watt+6+Port

I
t has a standard figure 8 power socket, so very easy to change power cables, 100V - 240V, and rates well so seems to be a very good alternative to the Anker and ships to NZ.
The 6x I ordered work out at around NZ$39 each landed including freight and slightly more if you order smaller quantities.

Are all 6 taken? I'm happy to do a bulk order if others are keen.

Sorry, all 6x are taken.  There's only a very small advantage in saved shipping costs as you add more units, so I'd say go for it.
I see that sellers are asking a lot more on Ebay. Looks like a great deal. I couldn't find anything locally, even at trade, that worked out anywhere near as good.

Unfortunately the ankers dont do fastcharge 2.0 yet, and ive found the note 4 is quite frugal at the current it will take when on a 5v charger so the point where ones that will keep the note 3 charged while using it moderatly will actually go backwards on the note 4.

Jaxson: I have one of each of these:

http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-Portable-Travel-4-USB-Port-Wall-Charger-Adapter-For-Phone-MP3-MP4-USB-Device-AU-p-50526.html

All working well for me.

UPDATE:

Nope, this thing just died completely last night, so as such I couldn't recommend it anymore.

Have a different replacement coming, but this one is in the bin now.

Did it make a good bang when it died?

Nah just progressively failed to charge and then just sat there flashing. Rubbish now but no dramatic end of life event.

I've still got a new 6 port Anker here that's surplus to requirements after I got a big order of stuff for people while I was in the US.

Anybody keen on it? I'm open to offers.. smile

I'd be interested in this if it's still available. I was just on my way to Amazon to purchase this and a usb hub when I thought to check here first.
