eracode: Looks like Sonos is not specifically excluded - and that's always hard to get much of a discount on. But you can bet there won't be any in stock - thus ruling it out.

And you would hope they don't put some products out to the back, while they are having the sale.

Well, I take back my comment somewhat - $1,204 each for PlayBar and Sub isn't too bad - usually $1,398 less maybe a tiny discount.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Also, JB HiFi is that same company that lists wrong prices then cancel orders without explanation. And I'd not trust to be the best prices either.

Well, my experience last night was par of the course for JB... When I went to buy a Kobo for my son:

* the store only had one Kobo Touch in stock, and that was a return model; the disount was a 'generous' $20 (so down to $120), but that was the discount on all Touches with the store completely unwilling to reduce the price further for what I believe was essentially a second-hand returned item (I acknowledge it would have had the full warranty)

* they completely refused to meet their promise to me on the phone the previous day when they said they'd have no issue transferring another model from another store while the sale was on; apparently this wasn't policy, and they'd not budge despite what I had been told (and this offer had been unsolicited, ie they suggested the transfer idea without me asking about it).

In the end I didn't buy it - I'd rather get it from elsewhere even if it's a bit more, considering the typically poor service and contradictory advice.

The only positive was I bought a CD - my first in years. (But then I had to re-live the nightmare that is ripping, converting into both FLAC and MP3, ensuring track naming is correct, creating a CD copy for my son so he doesn't destroy the original, adding cover art, copying to the mobiles and then the NAS for the Squeezebox... I can see why we went to Spotify!)

You should escalate it to management. If you were told that by their staff that they could transfer it from another store, and then they didn't honour what they said, that isn't good enough. $20 discount on something second hand isn't great either. Kobos aren't really talked about that much these days, but they look to have been quite a good device.
