Grabbed a Fire HD 10" Tablet for $99.   Pretty happy with that!

I just found an email from Amazon that my order over the weekend was declined due to the payment method used. Just rang ANZ and they know nothing about it.

Has anyone ever had this? It's my first time using the YouShop address. Anything to do with that?

I ordered from Amazon over the weekend and had no problems with payment. This one wasn't via Youshop but I have ordered multiple times from them via Youshop in the past without problems.

It seems that anti fraud is the go-to excuse for US retailers for refusing to sell things, like people blame spam filters for emails they dont want to deal with.

Looks like my card was charged yesterday for some items however they charged my card again today for all the items, including the ones already paid. 5 different transaction for one order with 3 different references. What a mess!

Have you actually been charged or just an authorisation hold? If it's just an authorisation hold,I wouldn't be surprised it it'll sort itself out without you actually being charged extra and refunded although there's no guarantee. If you are charged extra and refunded and you lose out due to not being refunded all the fees, I think if you complain to Amazon they'll compensate you for the small extra.

Not personally using Youshop but by Amazon payment was declined. In my case, pretty sure it was because I reached my credit limit. Near the end of the month meanijng credit card payment was due soon, and I spent a lot in October and November. (Can adjust it higher, but didn't check.) I didn't fix it straight away, wasn't desperate for the products and was fairly sure they wouldn't cancel it just because it took me 2 days to fix the payment. Funnily enough last year I did the same thing but did fix it straight away although I was considering adding something to the order. And it was shipped before I managed to. Whoops! (Wasn't actually thinking of changing order this year, but decided hey why not leave it just in case I change my mind.)

Anyway Amazon retried by themselves after a bit over a day later. But the amount in the authorisation hold is about NZ$90 more than expected. I think they may have charged an import fee deposit even though my order was just under the limit for when they started charging. (My order details still lists the expected USD aount.) Weird. Oh well I don't really care provided it's refunded (although may lose on the fee :-( ) and I'm fairly sure it won't be over the $60 tax due limit.

They definitely charged me. I'm getting in touch with them now.

Total was USD $177.91 (NZD $258.60). They charged me a total of NZD $358.06

The order hasn't actually shipped though. Status is "preparing for shipment".

Edit: Just got off the phone with ANZ. No they haven't charged me, however the extra authorisation holds are still there. I'll wait and see I guess.

A big problem is that banks don't report holds in a separate tab clearly named "HOLD"

ASB doesn't show them in a separate tab but they are clearly differentiated. Authorisation holds are shown in italics and the date processed + balance just say pending.

My Amazon order has now shipped and the order details have now changed to show an import fee deposit as I expected. Still don't really understand why. Order total is otherwises still correct amount. Looking at exchange rates, I'm pretty sure the market USD to NZD was lower i.e. it should have been less in NZD when they charged it compared to when I made the order on saturday (albeit I don't know what Amazon's internal rate was).

Maybe for some reason when working out of they should charge an import fee deposit the second time they took amount before the Amazon assistant coupon and/or lightning deal. Or there was something broken in their system. (While I'm fairly sure customs isn't going to charge tax, order reached ~NZD360 and included some items with, I think, duty. And I thought I've seen they normally charge before then.)

Agree, and they can take up to a week or so to clear.  Have the same issue with hotels etc.
