You can sometimes get really good deals on laptops but you just have to read up and double check. I find pricespy good for history of a product.
I got a laptop middle of last year that was a really good price from Harvey Norman of all places. Never seen it at the same price again and even during sales it was a lot higher. Normal RRP on it was 2650, sale price after I purchased was between 2200 and 2400. I got it for 1650. The guy install was sure I was on the AU site as their instore system was showing the best price they could do was 2200. Showed him it was the NZ site and his manager ok'd the sale. Might have been a pricing error on the site but I was happy as :)

bmt:

I'm not convinced there's no margin in laptops here.

I bought a new laptop a few months for $1600. To this day the model below is regularly advertised "on sale" for $2400. That same model was on sale 1-2 weeks before I bought mine for $1650 too. Absolute rip off.

the margin is going somewhere... You can fly return to AUS and buy Dell/Lenovo premium(2k+) etc cheaper than NZ.

Lostja: Typically ignore PB tech sales for that reason, unless someone somewhere points out there is a bargain to be had

I hear ya Bro, but, I just cant help but hope.

Ive checked all the gaming PCs and almost all are 5% off. Ill post if I find anything else that is a bargain.

The laptop i bought is more expensive in this sale than what I paid for it on sale in November..

That could easily be accounted for by currency fluctuation.

Yes, sometimes Im surprised how volatile it can be !!!

In saying that, I always find at least $500-600 in laptop price difference after all factors taken in.

Personally I dont think its our retail hence why they argue no margin, It good be the OEMs just setting prices different, which if is the case is piss poor, but it could be they do profit based on volume, ie NZ is low volume so they have to charge more. Just a thought.....

I still think it sucks !!

Laptop or buy a motobike, hmmm, tha should never be a 50/50 thought lol
