Didn't they beat the price by 15%? I wish I had waited as these deals are better than the previous ones/

Yeah my mistake. I meant they beat Bunnings by 15%. If I had paid Mitre 10 prices, everything would've totaled nearly $600. After matching Bunnings and another 15% off, I ended up paying $335. Bunnings was around $400 total. Super happy :)

This is quite good value considering the switch by itself is the same price as the bulb plus switch. Apparently this can be used standalone without the hub as well. https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/computers-tablets/smart-home/smart-lighting/philips-hue-wireless-dimming-kit/prod146577.html I did get one of these last time they were on sale and they produce good light.

Yeah I got two of those today, they can be used independently, but can also be added to the bridge and controlled with the rest of the lights.

If you see the other thread that has the NL coupon $20 off when over $100, I confirm this code works as many times as you want, you can just get 1 color hue + 1 switch or 1 white ambience hue + another $3(AA or AAA batteries for me) to go slightly over $100 and use the code down to $80, pick up in store then no shipping fee

Yep. You can set different scenes in the Hue app, and if you have an iOS device it's also Homekit integrated so you can do geofencing and other automations.

Thanks for that. This morning I bought a hub and two bulbs to experiment with, on the expectation that I will buy more bulbs if I'm happy with it.

So far I'm really impressed. I have set the bathroom light to come on as a 'nightlight' during the hours when I would normally sleep, and it looks like I can set lights to automatically come on at full power when I arrive home and/or when sunset occurs. I think I will be buying more bulbs to take full advantage of this.

I just use a battery powered nightlight. Cost about $10 from AliExpress. It used 2 AA batteries and I haven’t had to replace them yet. It has a sensor, so it’s not on all night.

I thought about getting the Philips Hue today but they need a hub to talk to the Zigbee network; looking about I'm thinking of the Xiaomi Yee lights these are Wi-Fi enabled at the bulb level https://www.yeelight.com/en_US/product/wifi-led-c and get them in from Aliexpress or PBTech.

Just get the starter kit. Comes with the hub and one or two bulbs depending on which option you get. Hub supports up to 200 bulbs.

hue has a B22 base available, which yeelight still do not, which may be an issue if you have some old tablelamps or similar that you want to put wifi lamps into.

Look for Bunnings to price match, or consider price matching (-15%) in Mitre 10 tomorrow (Boxing Day) where they're doing a bonus $15 store card for every $100 you spend (unless price matching counts as 'special quotations' in which case that might not be applicable).
