With multiple accounts, personal, business & store accounts, very widely ranging, we have never been offered on any account 'free success fees'.

We've a friend, just spoke with her, she is like you, hardly ever list stuff and she has never received the free success fee offers either.

Doesn't look like any of us have much idea - have written TM Support, requesting relevant beta.

Does anyone know what it takes to get offered no success fees listings?

Are you a frequent or even semi-frequent seller on TM?

I've had numerous offers for the no fees listings, and had assumed it was because I hardly ever list stuff, and this was their way to entice me back and hope I'd start selling in other times. It's not worked in my case, in that I just wait for the next success-free offer to come up.

cshaun, thats right, on Saturday my friend could list that tent for 'no success fees' yet I could not list similarly.

As far as I know (could be wrong) the one on Sat was for everyone. I'd imagine not for 'in trade' accounts. And it was only for $1 reserve listings. I've certainly noticed a lot of new $1 auctions pop up. I noticed it advertised on the site. Made a few listings myself. Though an influx of $1 reserve listings could end up hurting sale prices...

cshaun: I believe you are wrong, there are the promotions that are available to everyone as you suggest, and there are separate free listings days that are only offered to specific users.
I've seen people post that they have free listings (with screen grabs) yet I don't see the same.

Well a simple Google search takes one immediately to TM page outlining the promo. Everyone can google search, and can then read it's available to all, not selected few.

Geese, if the 'no success fees is on offer to everyone' why then when I tried to load a listing on Saturday did it not tell me it was going to be a 'no success fees'' listing which would have meant I could reduce the asking price by $150?

Because you weren't listing a $1 reserve listing, which is what the promotion was. As I said, a quick Google search turned up all the information in seconds.

As I already stated I believe this last promotion was for everyone. I'm talking about others I've seen in the past that seemed to be for specific or specific groups of users. I wasn't seeing the same message on the website as the user reporting it - pretty clear cut.

And yet the email I received from TM regarding Saturday's no commission on $1 reserve auctions included the following footnote:

¹Applies to selected Trade Me members who are recipients of this email (and whose membership is linked to this recipient email address).

Interesting. What emails are you subscribed to? I'm guessing the 'excluded' users are 'in trade' users. But otherwise it seemed pretty open to basically everyone, but yeah it's difficult to know for sure.

Response received, unfortunately we’re still pretty much completely in the dark, still not knowing any of the criteria for any of the frequent ‘free success fees’ offers that are getting sent out:

Kia ora xxx,

They vary from offer to offer, as we sometimes A/B test our pricing, so some members will be offered a different price or fee discount to others.

We don't choose specific members for these promotions, it's a random selection kind of deal.

If you qualify for one of these promotions though you will be alerted by email to let you know.

Cheers,

Hey Team,

Exactly what are the precise requirements, none of us know why some get these offers & others do not?

Can we ask the exact requirements to receive the offers, they're quite frequent but we’re thus far excluded.

It motivates a lot of lack lustre listings, no pictures, no word body etc...many sellers do not even 'knock off the saving’ to buyers.

If it was sent to us, we’d reduce the ‘Reserve' of items by the savings, helping us sell, and buyers get a lower price (up to $150 lower currently).

Thank you in advance,

Xxxxx
