Does this use the built in Windows Your Phone app or is it a Huawei specific Windows app? Oh the irony that Huawei is still allowed to ship laptops with Microsoft Windows on them but not phones with Android on them.... hmmph....

No, it uses Huawei's own app on the laptop but nothing else needed to install on the phone.

No, but the fingerprint reader is ultra-fast - remember it's one touch to turn the device on and authenticate.

Do you know if there is a spare NVMe/SSD slot or similar for adding a second drive?  Also a second ram slot?

The product website doesn't specify around upgradeability.

Now trying decide between this Matebook or this.  Two completely different beasts.

Cheers.

That's comparing oranges with apples. If you need to game or edit videos, then the gaming beast is what you need.

The Matebook is really just for productivity work and some light 1080p video editing.

Absolutely. Moving from a desktop and very (very) occasional gaming with an extensive stream library of older games and 11TB of storage so I'm deciding what I need. The MX250 might cut it for my older gaming needs. I don't need ultra settings. Also going from a 27" screen too so a bit to get my head around.

The pre-order page is here now: https://www.pbtech.co.nz/promotions/huawei-matebook-13

The product page (not the pre-order) is https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NBKHUA5301300/Huawei-Matebook-13-UltraSlim-13-IPS-QHD-Touch-i7-1

I bit the bullet and ordered.  The tablet will be handy for the young fulla.  Cheers for the heads up.

Shame on the lack of ports given only one of the usb-c is useful(the other being dedicated for charging use only), is the 2x2 WiFi decent?

Also $1899*

*If you use POLI to pay or use a finance system. +$41 for any other option.

Wonder if theres a workaround(ie buy $1900 in gift cards paying by bank payment(free) then apply gift cards to this pre order).

Very decent. Getting about 650 Mbps on my home gigabit connection.

Hmm yeap. Pretty sure I saw it yesterday or definitely the day before. Was still umming and arring about getting it. Tempted to "upgrade" from the Dell XPS 13 but bit cautious with current situation with Huawei. Unsure if that's just paranoia now as I have no idea if there are currently or likely to be any downsides to getting this laptop.

Any idea why it's pulled?

I am told the pre-order stock sold out. There may be a new promotion coming soon.
