The could have probably declined the price match if they wanted as thier conditions exclude limited stock sales.

I never had issues with NL regarding price matching.

Truth is, I never bought an Apple product in my life. AFAIK Apple is not giving them much $/sale, so shops are selling those products just to get customers into their stores.

I'd like to see them do the same as Bunnings&co, match the price and -15%. That would be great.

The Warehouse Group retailers really are awful to deal with in my experience. I would rather pay extra somewhere else than have to fight Noel Leeming to get the product I've paid for. Then there's the extended warranty scam that they are still pushing.

Interesting PB Tech say the 64GB iPhone SE is normally $799. Actually its always been $749, still is on the Apple website.

Do they just inflate prices ahead of a sale so make the saving appear more substantial?

The SE 64GB was $799 at launch, it only dropped to $749 RRP after the iPhone 12 release. If PB Tech have been selling it at $799 over the last little while they can legally claim the saving from $799 (however it would be fairer for them to claim the saving from $749).

FWIW with NL price matching I have never had an issue. But having once worked there I know the teams in store are not always as up with the play on the Ts &Cs. Additionally if it goes into negative margin they're not keen as it costs them commission (but they can just process the sale under a non-commissioned manager's number and that problem goes away for them).

The price was $799 at almost every outlet. Even now:

I Asked NL to pricematch a keyboard from PB once, they sales rep said "nah, they parallel import their logitech equipment thats why its so cheap.. we dont price match parallel imported items" I said umm no they don't.. they are authorised resellers.. but he didn't seem to care what I thought.. so I browsed around for another 2 mins, went and asked another sales rep "yep no problem!"

I've had them price match things on 2-3 occasions without issue. Think it does largely depend on the sales guy you get. (Online or in-store.) But I agree they're very rarely the cheapest, I only did it when using in conjunction with another offer/discount.

I would not purchase from Noel Leeming even if they were the last retailer on earth.

davidcole: does anyone know if NL will pricematch PBTech?

I've done that with printer ink. It was quite convenient because I was in Whangarei.

Last year I have successfully price matched a new release Apple Watch at Noel Leeming against TheMarket's $50 off coupon promotion, along with a few FlyBuys points.  Also price matched memory card promotions from PB Tech last month.  Both were painless and I was in the store for under 10 mins.

I know they can get a little funny about online stores, but does anyone know if NL will pricematch PBTech?

While I generally prefer to buy from those who do the work on discounting (rather than the lazy ones that keep their price up and will only discount is someone else has), I want to use some ASB true rewards, which I can't use at PBTech for purchasing.

The ironies here are that Noel Leeming are the supplier of Apple products on TheMarket, most TheMarket coupons exclude Apple in the T&C (but not enforced), and as both Noel Leeming and TheMarket are owned by The Warehouse Group so they just price matched themselves. Plus there was probably less than $50 margin in the Apple Watch to begin with.

Tried price match at Manukau mega center both Noel Lemmings and Harvey Normans wouldn't price match, due to one per customer.

First time had this problem.

Deal here.. . https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/MPHSAM009862/Samsung-Galaxy-S20-5G-SM-G986B-Dual-SIM-Smartphone

I've price matched at NL and M10 in the past—both at their Manukau stores. I'm sure I've price matched at NL (using PB Tech and Warehouse Stationary prices) with no issues. They will independently check the online prices though (checking it on their own devices rather than accepting the price I showed them on my phone). Not sure why physical stores come into the picture as they won't go over and physically check the prices there! I know sometimes competitors have local pricing which I haven't tried to price match yet. Only downside is they take their time checking etc so not ideal for a quick in-out purchase.

I won't buy anything from Noel Leeming ever again because their price match policy is such a scam - I've tried and failed on two occasions to get them to price match other retailers (Harvey Norman and Warehouse Stationery) and TBH am not a fan of their business model and promoting a price match policy which is worthless.

JB HiFi are pretty good when it comes to price matching.

I've never had a problem with NL price matching but HN on the other hand, told via ph they will price match and just go into store no issues, only to go in and be told 'nope!'

But NL isn't high on my list of preferred stores either.

My Oppo Find X2 Lite has automatic call recording, (which I've enabled for work purposes), and it's really handy in situations such as you describe !
