@gbwelly: At the risk of sidetracking this thread, what else in the NAS world offers a better bang for buck, at or below this price point, for general home use including Plex server (including transcoding) duties? A genuine question!

Ah, general home use, can mean a lot of things here on geekzone aye :)

I couldn't live with the extravagance of a mirror or the adrenaline of 2x JBODs. I've also lived too close in the past to the infamous 2000 passmark score for 1080p transcoding, the J4025 will will be fine as long as as quicksync is used every single time without fail..

Given I don’t know my JBOD from my @4#3(9”3, and that this will be replacing the much-esteemed and most-current Netgear ReadyNAS Duo 2, I think this will be a big enough step up for my ‘general home use’! Still p!shed to have missed out...

Was tossing up between Bose 700 and Sony XM4 but XM4s are now out of stock so a decision was pretty much made for me, plus I already have the XM3 so trying something different I guess.

I wasn't planning to get anything but saw the Evo 970 1TB M.2 SSD was $50 off so I grabbed that and a USB3 enclosure.  I'll use that for cold storage on my PS5.

I was going to get a MX Master 3 mouse but I see it's disappeared from their website.

The Sony XM4's at $399 are tempting.

A friend bought these headphones from Harvey Norman. They did a price match to PB Tech for the same price as above.

That saved waiting in cue for hours.

The Xiaomi AirDots are down to $39 from $69. They're perfect for podcasts/audible, etc. Not so flash for music but hard to complain at $39. I've had the V1s for a year and get a good 4-5 hours battery out of them before they need a boost from the case.

Bought these for the exact reason you mention, check bluetooth buds for spoken audio. If they work ok for music then that's an added bonus. Fingers crossed they deliver and I'm happy with them!

I’m tempted to get a new NAS; I’d been waiting for Synology to release some new models, and now see there’s a DS220+ released a few months back and PB Tech’s sale price is decent enough. By the time I’d finished reading up on the model over lunchtime and decided to buy it the damn thing had sold out!

You snooze, you lose, I guess... at least I’ll be ready next time it’s on sale.

@jonathan18 looks like it is in stock, if the one you linked is the one you are after

Thanks, @kiwiharry, indeed came back as showing stock late afternoon - not sure if it was a matter of more stock becoming available, unpurchased items dropping out of carts (unlikely, as it wasn't showing for a few hours) or whatever... So, yep, I've grabbed one to replace the Netgear, which must be about seven years old...

Our Harvey Norman refuses to price match with pbtech.

The sales guy said he used to work there and sometimes they’d source products directly from China.

Maybe I would have been more lucky if I had talked to the sales guy who hadn’t worked at pbtech?

Did you explain that its not your problem if they can source things better than they can and they offered a price match so they should honor it?

HN are not as bad as noels at weaseling out of price matching, but they do try. Its all a con to get you to go in and then once you're there you will probably buy something.

As for the sale, nothing I actually could do with right now was any signifigant savings, it seems to all be the things that PB are distributing like Mi and similar that have decent discounts. Everything else is meh level stuff.

To be honest the jump from xm3 to xm4 is negligible. I borrowed my part era xm3's to give them a try and could only get the xm4's when I purchased my own. I feel like they have slightly shorter battery life and less codec support, but they do let you connect to 2 devices at once and pause when you take them off, if that's your thing.

I tossed up between the Bose and Sony's and the sonys eventually took it. Part of me wonders what kind of world it would be had i chosen the Bose, maybe one where I get more annoyed at the tiny touchpad in them.

I had the same issue with Noels in albany on Sunday, went in for the price match on galaxy buds+ but was told that "it's limited stock on everything that pbtech has on sale so we won't price match on anything for their sale"  I asked isn't everything "limited stock" for everything then because you don't have unlimited stock at any store.  They got confused so ended up leaving and going to pbtech, no waiting at the door so was in and out in 5 minutes.

But I agree each store seems to have their own rules around price matching etc even when you point out the rules on their own website.

Never have these issues with jb hifi, show them the price from another store and they sell it to you.

Very happy with the 1/2 price galaxy buds+ ($150 down from $300) work great at the gym. :)

Thanks PB Tech for the speedy shipping, in addition to the Bose 700, also ordered my son a Mi Band 4 on Monday, both received on Wednesday, despite going to different addresses!
