rscole86: Unfortunately Shelly haven't responded to any support queries, with several similar complaints across Facebook/Reddit on both the lack of product and lack of support response.
Shelly USA on Reddit are very engaging and helpful... unless you happen to have problems with Shelly EU.

That's very offputting.

I didn't order. Too many people seemed to have theirs catch fire.

@boosacnoodle

Citation please? That's a huge accusation.

eluSiveNZ: Yes. Mine arrived early December

Mine shipping status has been 'departed to destination' since 20 December.

However the Australia Post tracking details only ever say pending. I suspect the tracking number was only allocated, but it was never actually shipped.

My order arrived late last week - the Aussie post tracking was pointless. I also started a ticket and never got a response.
One blemished order out of about 10 over the years, so not ideal, but got there in the end.....

That's slightly reassuring.

When was your order dispatched?

Edit: does your order appear on any tracking site now that it has arrived?
Do you know if it was delivered by courier or standard post?

I think it may have been NZ post, it ended up in the mail box when they normally drop at the door.
It was 'pending' up until pretty much 2 days prior

One appears to be switching a washing machine, which is going to be a very high load, so not sure it's really recommended, even if it's within specified loading.

3/5 of those are the same post, that only has me slighty concerned as the Shelly EM, where they said it was only using the clamp for monitoring, rather than the contactor.

The other one way where they new it was faulty but wanted to wait for a sale before removing and replacing. It was rated at 16A, but were running it at 14A continuously for an hour every night.

I'm only wanting to use mine for switch lights.

In case anyone else is in the same boat as me, yesterday I lodged a dispute with my credit card provider.
Around 4 hours later (so probably a coincidence) Shelly responded to my support ticket saying they will investigate with PostOne.

Also, via the Shelly Facebook page, I've had another offer for them to look into it.

Sorry, what? Why are you defending a clearly faulty product? If it says it's rated for something, it should be able to do at least that. Tolerances are built into most products to even exceed the rated capacity.

I think your claim of a "clearly faulty product" is a stretch, there are many geekzone members here using Shellys without "catching fire".  If this was the case I am sure there would be a bigger uproar and more warnings from the community.

In this case, I would strongly suggest everyone stop buying Teslas, its clearly a faulty product as many people seemed to have theirs catch fire.

Still waiting for mine... Ordered through Shelly EU 21 November. Dispatched (supposedly) 28 December with tracking number through PostOne and Australia Post. No further information showing and no response from Shelly EU.

They do say "Attention:We want to inform you that we are currently experiencing a high volume of support requests, which may result in temporary delays in our ticket responses. Please bear with us as we work diligently to address your inquiries. Your patience is highly valued, and we are committed to resolving this overload promptly."

If a device is rated for a certain load, yes it can be expected to operate at that current for at least 'a while'.

However, if you choose to operate it close to full load, you can expect early failure due to the heat. That's even if you hook it up correctly, and with all the handymen hooking up these units, that's not guaranteed.

Sensible people de-rate devices for longer service.

"Finally, yes it was installed correctly - I'm an electrician. No it wasn't anywhere it should have overheated other than it simply couldn't cope with the claimed current."

Yet, as mentioned in that thread, a 'smarter' electrician probably wouldnt advise using it for that situation.

Not "clearly faulty product", but potentially misused

My support response from Shelly - cant complain ! (again)

"Excuse us for the delayed reply. Normally, we are replying much faster but we are extremely overloaded at the moment.

The courier experienced a delay with deliveries to New Zealand but the order was delivered.
https://auspost.com.au/mypost/beta/track/details

Although our company doesn't have a fault for the delay, we are providing you with a 10% discount code for your next order as compensation for the delay."
