Do you need anything other than a Dyson? ; )

Hate them. Daughter has one in Oz, the most useless machine I’ve ever had to use. Laundry tiles hit the carpet and soap powder spilled into the gap, impossible to remove with the upright one. You’ve never heard so much cursing and it’s put me off for life.

I had a couple of Dyson’s in the early days when they first started back in the UK. They were flashy but expensive and unreliable, and they both broke down in a very short period of time. I guess they’ve improved a lot now, but they always seemed over-engineered to me, and the early bad experiences put me off too. The mother-in-law also had Dyson’s early attempt at making a washing machine, and when that caught fire, I became even more reluctant to buy anything by Dyson.

My one has the handle slot into the base of it, and it sits at an angle so it takes way more space up then needed, and a couple of bumps and the flimsy plastic on the hose end broke so it no longer slots into there anyway. Under engineered attachment point, and the angle it sits on was clearly done so that it looks larger when sitting doing nothing rather than being space efficiant.

Damn, I would have bought a new Henry, but they've already sold out.

Thats what I was also looking at half the price of other places. Reviews are mostly good but only 650W had me concerned but they’ve all gone now. Apparently you can rip the grin off its face too. Am interested in hearing if anyone has one and how it is because the capacity is 9 litres and doesn’t need to be emptied as much.

My Stick vac fills up seemingly from a dirty look and a threat to swish it around the coffee table and it’s a filthy job emptying it and banging the filter so it puffs out all the dust. Ugh. Definitely going bagged.

Yes, I already have one - I’ve had it for well over 10 years. They’re very simple machines, ultra reliable and get the job done with no fuss. The only reason for looking for another one is I’ve treated this one quite harshly. It’s been through 3 major house renovations in 2 countries, and it’s been bashed about quite a lot. It still works perfectly, but this one would be relegated to the workshop if I got another.

The Wertheim seems to have good reviews. I thought it was some fancy German one but appears to be a Godfrey product so wondering how it will get parts and bags etc once the company closes down.

Some of the RRPs look very high, such as with some stick vacuums, when compared to Mieles website. So I would check the prices to make sure you are getting  good deal or not.

Any ideas if we have a problem with the roborock s8? Is there a NZ disty who will take over the warranty?

Check to see who owns the brand in this region. There were several house brands that they sold. I did buy one of their house brands about 10 years ago and it wasn't good and ended up returning it, and switched tor Miele instead. I found their build quality is great, and with no sharp rough pieces of plastic etc,

The rechargeable stick vac I bought from them a few years back : I will have issues getting filters for it now.
So keep that in mind . are you going to be able to the the bags ,filters & Hepa filters for there vac's when they close.
Also, warranty issues when they are closed

I went in on Tues , a few Meile's left. On Sat they were all gone , unfortunately .
So I bought a Hoover with a power head for about $250 . It does a good job , and for that price not a biggie
if it fails . Its got heaps of suck :1500W , and a hepa filter so no dust coming out the other end (as with my older panasonic canister vac)
