dacraka:
I got one on boxing day, it broke yesterday - I turned it on, made some cracking noises and sure enough, I looked in the coffee power dispensing tray and a part was broken among other things falling out of place in the coffee compacter area as well. Took it back to the store and they are now ordering me in one from another store because of no stock. I know the CGA provides many year warranties but this time I couldn't be bothered with arguing with them with an almost guaranteed fault within the next few years so for the ease of not having to argue the CGA to a store person in the future I added two more years extended warranty to make it a total of three years for another $40.

Wonder what would have happened if they had sold out and couldn't source a replacement, as I can't see them repairing them due to cost. I wonder if they would have refunded the extended warranty, as you had only had it a few days, and would have been covered by the manufacturers warranty, the CGA. I believe the extended warranty only kicks in after the 1 year manufacturers warranty runs out anyway, from my experience.

Interesting I noticed on their website that they were advertising these as 'half price' which would have made their normal price around 700-800. Yet the white sticker price instore was over 2k, which is essentially showing customers who were buying instore that it was previously selling over 2k, down to $350ish.

mattwnz: Looks like stores have now moved onto the New Years sales, which often aren't as good. Haven't seen any good deals yet. Only purchased one thing in the sales this year, and that was lego which was 30% off at mighty ape.

was 30% for selected sets? was watching on the tumbler set, but they were sold out before Xmas at full price.

warehouse has the elves bakery on special now, not a bad start into the elves series.

brick bounty was $100 just yesterday? but that has ended.

visited 2 warehouse stores, lego shelves are pretty much empty. one store had about 10 millennium falcon before Xmas and all gone a day after boxing day with the same 20% discount.

A few sets are 30%, as it is up to 30% off. Think it ends today https://www.mightyape.co.nz/Toys/LEGO/All

Well fired up the M7 and found I can't use Spotify in it unless I have the paid premium service, unlike say the PS3 version.

How did others update the firmware? I have the file on a usb drive but it's not recognising it.

Some songs sound ok, others make the unit resonate. Mixed bag thus far, even for $100...

Funny I was just about to post this exact same feedback. The bass is pretty broken I think. Non Bass sound is actually pretty good (Vocals are pretty similar to my expensive audio setups elsewhere in the house. I'd be pissed if I paid $650 for it.

I am going to see if I can find some tweaks.

I did the firmware from my Android App.

It sounded better but still not right after that.

Got the firmware update going now.

If Spotify doesn't work will be mucho annoyed. Right now it's no better than the cheap Sanyo CD player and tissue box sized speakers on that with a 3.5mm aux in cable.

Some frequency responses are nice, others bordering on shocking.

Yup. Be interested to see what you think after the firmware update.

GF has just picked me up a Huawei Watch, 15% off at HN. Makes it about the same as buying in from the US. It's an anniversary pressie so don't get it for a few days lol

By IT I presume you mean the watch ? :)

I have been looking at that watch, I think it's cool, but I just can't seem to get across the line from ditching my Brietling. Feels "wrong".

If I had a brietling I think I would have trouble swapping it out for anything :D

Quite right. I even resent wearing a fitness band :)

I like the idea of a smart watch, it would have lots of useful functions I'd use all the time, but ....

One day maybe Brietling will make a Smartwatch?

Dunnersfella: We never use the Kinect camera on the XBox One.
However it is mainly used for Hulu Plus, Netflix and gaming - there's a pair of DTS Headphone-X cans for wireless gaming / TV watching if I don't want to annoy the wife.
Once HBO Now turns up, it's got me sorted.
It works brilliantly with my Harmony Ultimate too.
Recommended.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
Off to find a bargain...

HDMI control is turned off on our system so the harmony control knows the state of everything.

We got a Kinect for the fact we can use it for Skype - great for the kids to use when skyping the grandparents or the old au pair in Germany - they used to all try to crowd round the laptop. Voice commands are handy, albeit a little dodgy since the Win 10 update (nothing beats walking into the lounge, saying "Xbox On", and getting everything turned on painlessly. Xbox Fitness is quite good too - gamifying exercise (gets me off the couch!)

What are you connecting the headphones with Dunnersfella? Are they wireless or connected to the 3.5mm jack on the controller?

The headphones have an adaptor that connects to the optical port on the back of the XBox.
This adaptor transmits wirelessly to the headphones.
I already own a pair of Turtle Beach headphones that connect to my controller, but that's useless for movie watching, I wanted to be disconnected.

Yeah... so Samsung and quality audio equipment are often viewed as being mutually exclusive...

Does sound better after the update, where I suspect they limited out the offending resonant frequencies via eq.

Hopes pretty much dashed after unpacking this thing.  Think it might head to trademe tonight to pay for a recent speeding ticket...

Back to Bluetooth connection or Aux line in, which is where I was to start with.
I don't like Bluetooth and both it and the Aux line in take a dive temporarily if the phone/ipad gets a message/email notification etc.

Had really hoped for the Spotify client to avoid this, and to be able to pick any song I want, instead of the limited shuffle only options on the phone mobile Spotify version.
Having no support at all for Spotify free stuffs that idea unless I want to upgrade to premium.

Wouldn't normally pay more than $100 for this piece of plastic.  I get it might be ideal in some circumstances, but it hasn't worked for me.

Spotify Premium will be the future for you sadly... pretty much everyone will go that way in their wireless multi-room setups. I forget the reason behind it, but effectively, Spotify are becoming so dominant in the market they can almost demand it.
