zhuyan: Got one Seagate 4TB external hard drive last weekend from NL wellington central for $229; think that's a good deal.

I could have bought the same from amazon and get youshop to ship to NZ for about $214 but thought for $15 more I wouldn't have to wait.

Amazon is still having sales on various external hard drives up to 40% off and some of them could be shipped direct to NZ; postage included it could still be cheaper by 20-30%

Good deal, I have been looking at Internal 2/3/4TB drives to use in a dock but may reconsider and just get an external one if they are that cheap. Thanks for the heads up that these prices are out there, I was still under the impression that External HDD were still super expensive compared to Internal

That's cheap. Are they still available at that price?

Thanks. That is cheaper than price for internal 4tb on pricespy. Is it the same unit?

I think 1 or 1.5tb is the sweet spot for external usb 2.5" drives. Check price spy.

Best Buy is still offering Toshiba's new Canvio® 3.0 portable hard drive 1.5T for just US$69.99, only about 180g in weight. With Youshop postage included, you should be able to get it for about NZ$110 delivered; not bad either!

I think if i got a powered one i'd get a network drive. Is seagate central worth it or would you go nas?

seagate central is a nas, albeit a simple home/home office nas, no redundancy, capped at 4 TB.

it's reasonably good performance compare to other low cost nas, but not that great at current NZ retail price.

I see Harvey Norman has Windows 8 Pro upgrades for sale on their web-site at $98. Seems like a good price if you have an old XP license lying around.

Amazon have their standard kindle at $30 off today with international shipping, using the code KINDLE59, so landed price in New Zealand is just over NZ$89.  And of course using the geekzone link is usually encouraged :)

Noel Leemings have/had two $20 itunes cards for $30, saving $10 or 25%. But their staff weren't aware of the deal, and it isn't automatically applied at checkout, so you have to grab a leaflet to show them. It's on the bottom of the back page of their brochure. Not sure when it finishes, but I got it on friday.
