freitasm: Playing Devil's Advocate here, you should probably exclude iHUG, ICONZ, Snap from tests since these are ISP-specific DNS.

But, yes, make it a more specific claim - although I can't see why anyone would use a service such as this to anything but geo-unblocking anyway. I would nitpick...

I ran it with namebench defaults which is to include all regional DNS services, which is why those are in there. The GUI doesn't give you an option to include or disclude these when this is selected.

Since the query source is rather large, larger DNS services like Google DNS definitely have an advantage over its cache. They have larger user base so the probability that a site's record was already cached is higher. When our server doesn't have cache available, it will have to do a recursion to lookup the address.

As you can see from the fastest individual response, our server response time is up there with many local NZ resolvers. What this means is that once a DNS record is cached, the overall lookup speed will improve.

DNS server is something that "the more people that use it, the faster it gets" .

Yes, i thought this might be the case which is why i set running another 250 query cache 100% hit test. Which has just finished.

And based on this, i'd like to congratulate UnoTelly for being #1! 4.19ms average response is extremely impressive, with the fastest time of 3.4ms.
It seems when we're talking cached queries, unotelly is indeed the winner.

111.118.175.56, 118.127.33.48 are unblock-us
103.6.212.24 is unotelly.

From googling 103.1.187.68 also appears to be a unotelly address but im not sure, perhaps you can clarify. edit: sydney perhaps?

Hi Nick,

I have been a long time user of UnoTelly (must be well over a year now). I think I actually used to communicate directly with you when I was setting everything up on my iDevices.

Can you elaborate on why Apple are giving UnoTelly a hard time, yet they have approved an app from your competitor?

Also would be interested in understanding how I could take advantage of the discount offers.

The thing is that we already have our iOS app ready but having a hard time releasing it due to inconsistent iOS app review process. If we won't find a solution about this, we will definitely examine the possibility of launching a mobile site.

Be sure that we will let you know once we launch a handy mobile app/website for our iOS users.

You could always put the source on GitHub or similar, and allow us to compile our own versions. AppStore? We don't need no stinkin app store! :-)

I also use Playon and Playlater to record content for offline watching. I could never get Playon going with Netflix outside of the US however, UnoDNS seems to work fine with other regioins which is great.

I tried it out last night.

Don't know if it's Snap but I've never found performance through DNS services to be that great.

I get much better performance using Astrill VPN than I do using Unotelly's Auckland DNS so it takes longer to buffer HD on Netflix :/

Well... I use another service on my Amazon Fire TV, mainly to watch Amazon Instant Video, Netflix and Hulu. Might have to give Unotelly a try then.
