How on earth did they send out this email and CC everyone in? The few times I've done it in the past, it was either impossible since we used a programme designed for mass email, or I triple checked because I was super scared of this exact scenario haha.

Honestly that's worth passing on to the privacy commissioner - not for you to get any compensation obviously, but because it seems to be an open and shut case of a breach of the privacy act.  Unlikely to result in anything more than a stern telling off and offer for training, but important nonetheless.

Simple, people are stupid when it comes to email.

People who don't know how to reply and instead start a new message thread, every time.
People who think sending videos as attachments is A-OK
People who forward emails to hundreds of people in the Cc.
People who dump hundreds of emails on your server simultaneously.
People who setup nice little redirection loops.
People who use "cute" email templates, with backgrounds and animated gifs and .... somebody please shoot me already.

I've seen it all man.  I've seen it all.

I got about 10 emails so far from other customers .. and although people replied to stop replying all they seem to ignore it. Time to put a filter on the subject on my gmail account now ..

richms: I would say that is too good to be true. Not like that JB one that was totally believable since it was only 60%ish off and in the middle of a huge sale.

I would expect HN to be more upfront than JB about the error and appologize etc tho.

I find HN to be a pretty good store to deal with, and they in the past have honoured things, such as the xmas  netbook several years ago which they offered rainchecks on.

That's great, so now you are going to get heaps of emails from other customers complain that they are not honoring it. Staff shouldn't be allowed to use email if they don't know what BCC is and when to use it. But the staff training and IT procedures may explain the mistake in the first place.

Just bought one of the LG H5 ($144) and 2x LG H3 ($88) at the store.  Pricing is correct, and ridiculously cheap.

Expect an increase in spam :) I had a companies BCC their customer database with hundred of email address on it, and it is the bggest PITA to deal with, you have to setup a rule to make sure it deletes emails with the subject  This is one of the reasons I use a free ISP or disposable email address when entering my email address onto websites, as it ends up being spammed one way or another.
