mcraenz:

Just using the supplied adaptor. I was planning to buy an EdgeRouter lite 3 but now thinking perhaps I should go with the EdgeRouter POE (5 Port). As I'm planning to put up at least 2 of the 3 APs I bought. I'm not really up on PoE standards though so will need to do some research.

The biggest downfall with the PoE version of the Edgerouter is the fact bridges are not accelerated and you lose performance meaning you'll have to either use VLAN trickery or other networks for the PoE ports to maintain top speed. This is why I think the ERL + a small PoE switch is a better option which is also cheaper.

Any PoE switch will do here.

I ordered three cnPilot E400 units at lunchtime today - and got an OOS message.
So I tried for two units, and got them.
The Go Wireless website now shows: "Availability: Out of Stock".  frown

Promo codes are valid until 30 May, so hopefully they'll get more stock before then.

Go Wireless have advised me that they'll have more stock in two weeks.  smile

The promo code is in a PDF document called a "quote".

I emailed this to Go Wireless, then placed an order online, selecting Direct Deposit for payment.

Go Wireless then emailed me a purchase order with the 70% discount, which I paid by bank transfer.

its more of a quote which then have to email to gowifi, and they tell you what to do

unfortunately it took them quite a few days to process mine - was delayed, finally got the paper work from them, but now gowifi are out of stock now on the E400, out of luck there i guess.

I've got another quote in my emails - going to buy an AP for my parents since they're getting VDSL soon, 2.4GHz Wireless N isn't going to cut it.

<squee>

Jellybeans in the box!

Oh, and some ridiculously over-specced access points.

And a cat 5 (not even 5e) in every box! Not sure why they bothered with that tbh...

mcraenz: Jellybeans! I need to go re-check my box!

When ordering anything from Go WiFi ask them to make your day. I once got a box packed with jellybean packets that also had some other goodies like cups etc. They're an awesome company to deal with :)

and all i got in my order that arrived today was a sales book!

Where's my jellybeans dammit! to be fair all i got today was only a few passive POE bits which ironically weren't appropriate for the usecase i wanted them for anyway! (Draytek access point seems to not have a 2.1mm DC jack, heres hoping it will be replaced with a E400 soon..)

And still I wait for the promo code (it's killing me, it's also now end of the week in the US so may have to wait until Tuesday our time for Monday USA time to roll around). Coming up to 48 hours now (applied Thursday evening).

mcraenz: I'm also now leaning toward the 5 port PoE, about $100 more than the ERL, but has 3 POE ports. You can then if needed link to a 5, 8 or 16 port PoE switch if you need more port

The 16 port has two fans which increase noise over the toughswitch without fans..

Based on the following switches for additional ports

Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch 16 port 150W PoE Switch
Ubiquiti TOUGHSwitch Pro 8 port 24V/48V PoE Gigabit Switch
Ubiquiti TOUGHSwitch 24V 5 POE Managed Gigabit Switch
