Probably going to Switch to Skinny at some point. They aren't interested in price matching Skinny either so since they are using the same network I'll take the permanent $10 discount.

I received the same 'new customer only' response. Totally expected, but disappointing nonetheless.

When it comes to promotions like this, it's obvious that existing customers are valued less than new customers. As a greeting, it would be being addressed like:

To potential customer: Hello potential valued customer! smile

To existing customer: Oh. It's you again. undecided

When I replied to their decline and said it was disappointing given that others were getting it applied I got this.

Hi,

We do have a degree of leniency for these things so we have applied the deal to some current customers who have signed up very very recently.

This promotion was never meant for current customers. We have never advertised this promotion as such and wherever this information came from, it certainly did not come from Bigpipe.

Cheers,

Bogdan

Given I've only been a customer for three months, it must be VERY recently indeed.. Poor form thou, and enough to make me look at moving away from them.

Purely speculative of course, but the fact that some people are being told the promo code can't be applied because they used another code when they signed up, suggests that customer service staff are attempting to apply this discount to existing customers. If that's the case, and they aren't "very very" recent customers, there are likely other users who didn't use a promo code previously who are receiving this discount. That being the case, and in the interest of fairness, it should apply to everyone.

I have no issue with promo codes, but there should be zero leniency. If a promotion is genuinely is only available to new customers, then that rule should be enforced without exception.

Agree, nice way to reward loyalty isn't it?

Had a shady My Republic guy show up at the door offering $79 pm last night. If a reputable ISP comes by with the same offer I'm probably gonna say yes.

I've signed up with Voyager. Should go live on Tuesday (delayed because Chorus has no record of the ONT).

No cheaper, but static IP setup is lower, PTR records are officially supported, and I can get someone on the phone if I need to. Bigpipe support has been poor over recent times, and the excellent support they previously provided via Geekzone appears to be a thing of the past.

Wow. Sorry I asked...

Not the best way to build goodwill with your existing customers.

This is not an official response by any means (as I haven't worked for Bigpipe for several months and nor has @JoshBigpipe either for those tagging him in the thread), but when we setup the Vicdeals promo it was only for new subscribers in the same way any of the promo codes are applied when you signup.

If anyone's managed to get by contacting support as an existing customer I'd count yourself lucky, but it's meant to be a partnership with the Vicdeals facebook page.

For anyone interested in the math, the Grabone deal or UFBSWITCH are still better promo codes in terms of savings too.
