Being in Tauranga over Xmas I decided go to PB Tech here but stopped when I saw a que of about 60 people waiting outside due to the crazy Covid rules. Decided to buy online unfortunately have to pay shipping and most likely a 2 weeks delay before I get it. My wife went to the CBD which was dead and bought some cloths there.

There were crazy queues everywhere today as stores limited capacity.

I needed a USB drive but didn't bother joining the queue at PB Tech to save $5!

Thanks for that assessment. I did find this one https://www.computerlounge.co.nz/shop/laptops/gaming-laptops/gigabyte-laptops/gigabyte-g5-i5-10500h-16gb-512gb-rtx-3060-gaming-laptop#specs  which has an RTX3060 but downgrades to an i5 processor. Looks pretty good. Ahhh decisions!!

Becareful. Remember RTX 30xx laptop gpus come in different power configs from 60w to 115w, which shops don't show. I think this damn well misleading. At 60w power configed 3060 will be clearly slower than 3060 configed at 115w.

What this means is that a 115 W RTX 3060 Mobile can potentially outperform an 80 W RTX 3080 Mobile depending on the given workload. The lack of explicit power details in the laptop specs can potentially complicate matters for the end user, who would generally assume that mention of an RTX 3080 Mobile automatically implies higher performance than a RTX 3060.

https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-RTX-30-Ampere-Mobile-will-no-longer-offer-Max-Q-or-Max-P-branding-OEMs-free-to-decide-TGP-and-Max-Q-features-to-implement.515922.0.html

Funny enough that specific laptop is configured to 105W on the 3060 under ideal thermals and power(with an extra 15W for dynamic). So they would be seeing the FULL performance of that 3060 which would be better vs that 3050.

Don't think the deals this boxing day have been that great compared to other boxing day sales, but this is probs due to covid and supply chain issues?
But tbh even the more recent boxing day sales aren't that great anymore, and black friday sales seem better.

Supply chain has something to do with that, but prices have actually have dropped on the other side of the ditch.

A more weighted variable is lack of competition. We have a number of players and they know people want to spend money regardless on price teasers.

@sonyxperiageek: Anyone seen any specials on Dyson stick vaccums lately?

Heathcotes have v7 for $383. Seen V10 for $780 maybe the same place.

Thanks. Sorry, I should've made it more clear in my original post that I was looking for a V11 or above. V15 imo just isn't worth the extra $400 over the V11, just for the green particle sensor and stats.

Currently have a V6 and the battery life on that thing is killing me, so liked the newer models where they claim to have up to 60 min runtime (probs on the lowest setting though).

Everywhere I've looked there doesn't seem to be any specials on the above model I was looking at.

Yep that's usually the Dyson way. Premium product. Prices stay high on the latest models. 10% on boxing day for v11.

This guy in ak does Dyson refurbs with one year warranty. Price is marginally not low enough compared to two years new warranty imo. On the plus side if you're local I'd guess service is rapid.

I found Christmas sales disguised like any other sale.  Nothing particularly special other than trick marketing and the ole price inflation/cut trickery which ended up the same 'special' price as normally found any other day of the week.   The sales also seemed to be lasting at least until Wednesday, making a mockery of the supposed 1 day sale.

Yawn.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
