@Senecio: While OT, out of interest what do you use to roast the beans? A couple of my family own one of those NZ-developed and made roasters (Nano 7), bought back when they were fundraising (so paid way lower than current retail), but always interested to see what others are using...

I use the Behmoor 1600+. Does the job well for me.

For anyone into photography, the pretty new Sony FE 24-70mm F2.8 GM II lens is $2997 at Photo Warehouse, Sony online and many other places.

This is not a huge discount but I would be surprised if the price doesn't go up at some point because in the states it's US $2,298, which with GST would be roughly NZ $4,350.

A little bit of self promotion here but I've got a Cyber Monday sale at https://www.virtualrealityrental.co.nz/ where if you book a Meta Quest 2 rental over Christmas or New Year's (or across both), you can include a second Quest 2 in your rental at completely no extra charge.

  • Valid only for bookings placed between now to 9am Tue Nov 28th 2023, offer may end earlier if stock runs out.

  • Over 60 games included, with multiplayer games. Chromecast also included to share the experience on your TV when both a headset and the Chromecast are connected to the exact same Wi-Fi and receive a good signal.

  • Rental rates must include Christmas or New Year's, or both. Such a rental would cost from $100 + postage & refundable bond.

  • No payment needed until near rental dates.

  • Refundable bond of $150 applies to any rental.

  • Rentals are posted nationwide ($35.80 including return, or +$5.30 for rural).

This year I didn't spend anything on Black Friday itself. In the days leading up to it, I spent hundreds of euros on high-quality, brand-new items that were discounted by 25-35% AND on my shopping list.

I don't really know what that means economically. Because despite all the joy at the bargains, I wonder how this is supposed to work for these manufacturers in the long term?

Affinity has I think 40% off plus further discount if you're still on V1 and want to upgrade to V2.

Most manufacturer's only provide limited true bargains. The rest is made up of slow moving stock that they can't move at normal prices. In one way it helps them to liquidate that slow moving stock back into cash that can be re-invested back into stock that is moving.
