Logged into my PC with another account, which definately says it's in region US, go to music app, everything is in GBP!!! Music deals installed, but then said "this music isn't available via xbox music".

I had the problem too when I first tried it with my main account, all prices in GBP. Not sure why.

and you fixed it exactly how?

It's now showing some in $ and some as "This album is not available via xbox music".

It's making me decidedly grumpy.

My machine logs in using a hotmail account which is tied to my NZ Stuff for MS as a reseller. Could THAT be the problem? My XBOX account is US though.

yes, quite likely.  it auto signs into the music app using your main Microsoft account.  can you add that account as another login on your machine, go get the free albums (and download) and then consume from your regular login?

Tried that as well. I am used to circumventing regional restrictions, but I can't for the life of me get this worked out, very frustrating! :)

Ah-ha! I got the same "This music isn't available via xbox music" error over and over again! I fixed it with a simple restart of the PC!
It then came up with your XBOX region is different to your Windows region. I clicked ok, it signed me in and that error message never came up again and I was able to select "Get it Free".

I setup a brand new account on my Xbox 360, and set it to the US.

What do you think the likelihood is it would work on a Xbox one?

I just triple checked and on hotmail.com and xbox.com the contact details BOTH show as US, though from the music app if I ask if it to check my contact details it sends me to xbox.com EN-GB type urls! I am even connected to a US VPN so obviously Regs is right and it's not geoblocking me.

Ok got it working thanks to mattwnz for his idea. setup ANOTHER new account, this time on the xbox after the X1 told me when I went to the music app my profile and xbox one regions were different. I have ANOTHER EMAIL address, but I did get it working and bought the deals. Was a little dissapointed the deals app no longer shows the $2 box sets, and I couldn't find them in the music app (Seriously MS your store and music store apps are the pits to navigate and find and yet again it hasn't detected no touchscreen and so keeps asking me to swipe from the right hand side to show menus with a box you cannot get rid of no matter what you do!).

Anyways thanks for hanging in with me through it, I got 9 free albums. It wouldn't take my NZ mastercard, may need to get my onesmart card and try that, anyone got a list of CC's that did work?

Lol I didn't see page 3 of this when reading on my phone a short time ago ....I was gonna say you sounded like you had everything right on your PC end so the only other thing I could think of would be that you didn't have your xbox one set to US with your US address on there...

However although you had to jump through a few hoops glad you got it working...shame it wasn't a couple of days back as imo the offerings were a lot better (I also fell into that and missed buying a few boxsets that I really would have liked getting).  However now it is working I'm sure over time there's going to be something you'll like.  The latest free deals only last 6 days so at least they'll be some new ones regularly (hopefully) for a month or so yet.

Yah I must admit to being gutted on the box sets too :(

MS could stand to make things a little easier to track down I think. (There seems a LOT of places it COULD be reading information from.

So now they have 100 albums in the Free area and new albums in the 2 paid ones as well (best of 2014 albums and a christmas themed bunch).  The 100 free ones appear to be the albums they've had from the last 2 - 3 weeks so good for those who missed some of the earlier ones.

For me now I have 38ish albums out of this for $8.95 US (as I bought a few of the boxsets at $1.99 and a 99 cent album of the week too).

Pretty happy and I think I read this goes for the whole holiday period (which iirc is 8 weeks over there).
