How in your face are the ads on the 'Special Offer' versions of the Fire Tablets? Is it worth the extra to to choose the 'Without Special Options' version?

The special offers can be removed (amazon can sometimes even do it), and it can be modified to be close to normal android (with play store etc).

have a hunt around with google and youtube.

Cheers,

Mike

I don't mind the special offers. I have found some great reads and things. I used to get them turned off.

Now I don't bother.

Good news, the phone has already shipped by DHL with delivery expected 25th July (instead of 1-7th August as originally stated).

Bad news - I already have an order from Amazon of ~$100 arriving on the 27th July (was ordered about 1 month ago, very slow to ship).

Hello customs charge due to consolidation...

Edit - now going to be delivered by 23rd July.

May be a dumb question... Will TVs bought from Amazon work here? I remember way back reading something about voltages and what not, and I don't want to buy a TV only to fry it.

Thanks

In general, most tvs will work with the voltage. The main issue is that American tvs tend to lock out the 50Hz modes, so, they only work at 60Hz. Not as much of an issue as in the past depending on what you are feeding it (computers, online on demand stuff work ok). The inbuilt tuner normally wont work.

The big issue is, how are you going to ship it? Even if you do get cheap shipping, if anything goes wrong, return shipping would generally be cost prohibitive so you would be writing off the cost (or hoping for a local fix).
