Any bought from NotBadTech before?

Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE for $99 seems like a great deal or is there something fishy?

I got a good deal on a motherboard and RAM from there a few months ago.  Sent quickly, no problems

Anybody aware of some deals on adjustable height office desk?

I’m after an electric/white/1.6m. Auckland based. Looking to spend between 200-300$.

Ikea have them in Aus, so might be a good option from next week. Not sure what the pricing will be.

You'll have to be brave to go within 5km of the area until next year at least..

There are quite a few in that price range from other sellers at the moment. Costco had one that looked ok when I visited a couple of weeks ago. It might have been a 1.5 or smaller.

Dyson have some decent Black Friday deals on vacuums and other products.

Something I discovered while shopping for Dyson vacuums... they claim long runtime (60 - 70 mins) and high suction (200 - 300 "air watts"). What I discovered is on full suction they get about 10 - 12 mins runtime, the 60 - 70 mins is for low / eco mode suction meant for hard floors. They're probably still going to do a decent job, but it's somewhat deceptive. Given we have deep pile carpets we got one of their corded vacuums, which runs full suction unless you turn it down.

Not looking to start a debate here, just passing on what I learned when I was about to spend about $1K on a machine that has somewhat deceptive marketing.

Unfortunately this is common, and you have to read the fine print.  The fine print on Dyson stick vacs is "Applies in Eco mode on hard floor. Actual run time will vary based on power mode, floor type and/or attachments used."

My near-new laptop claimed up to 16 hours of run time on battery.  I was confident that I'd actually get 50% of that claimed runtime.  In reality I barely get 4 hours of real-world use.  😒  The circumstances for that testing were a 720p video, brightness turned down, everything else turned off.

We have a v10 from memory. It works well.  Battery life isnt super fantastic, cant do the whole house in one go but it charges quick enough. Thats on the middle setting. So roughly 20-30 mins.  On the high one I can get my two rooms done and its still good.

What they never mention is you need an endless supply of filters though!  They clog up like theres no tomorrow and while they are washable Ive found a few that have just had it now - I just bought another 4 spares to put in rotation with the 4 we already had but some of the old ones are going to be chucked

Maybe we need a Dyson thread 😉 Fingers crossed the one we ordered is good, big ball absolute from memory, dodgy name for it. Hopefully the filters are ok on the mains models, if not we'll order a bunch from Ali Express and hope they're good enough. Filters do wear out.

Dyson does work differently. The roller is designed to assist the vacuum. Ime does a great job on short pile. Generally speaking I find my floors stay cleaner because I'm using it more often during the day instead of making it a big deal with the whole assembly pipe cord cupboard lead plug semi-trailer routine

The other gotcha for some people - it really only works properly in the forward direction. The usual vacs people tend to be familiar with are effective in both the forward and back motion. I get the impression this is part of the reason some older people think they are less effective. It might be hard for some people to understand the subtle difference in habit.

Filters. I find yearly filter washing works well enough for me. The first time I thought the battery was dying. It came right not long after the first empty and wash for the filters. Usually dry in 24 hours. When dry enough I leave them angled on top of a dehumidifier for the last bit. Full marks to Dyson for washable filters.

Apparently the big ball is ok forwards or backwards, maybe a bit more effective forwards - the benefits of mains power. We're used to having a cord. We usually use the robot vacuum, this will be used maybe once a week for a deeper clean or ad hoc tasks, though we have a hand held vacuum for small jobs. My Mum also replaced her 20 year old Dyson this Black Friday, the only one still works but spare parts hard to source.

Noel Leeming was doing the same price as Dyson online, but Dyson also gave a 10% extra bonus for ordering online plus free delivery, so worked out cheaper.

+1 for Dyson 'real' vacuums... still using my DC23 (pretty sure that's the model name'.. big beast of a thing, but 20yrs+ old and still works like a trooper!  Can recall when I did anything with the filters, just empty & vacuum.  Heavy but brilliant (and even comes up the stairs nicely).

We atill have an original Dyson corded vaccuum but its only used for the cars now. We have a cordless that used for the main house. I didn;t know you could still buy a corded Dyson. Didn;t they make a public statement back in 2017/2018 that they were going to stop making them?

Please take the Dyson general chat elsewhere, this thread is for Black Friday deals.

EDIT: Any further posts that aren't a post of a Black Friday deal will be removed like the H264 encoding whatever they were ones just were.

Only post BF deals here, that is what people are subscribed to the thread for.

Is it time for this thread to rear it's head once more?  I'll go first.

-

Dreame Hair Dryer from Amazon AU.  AUD$73, or around NZ$83.  This is advertised as 60% off.  https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CNRZ56ZR

Nearly identical Dreame models in NZ are currently on special for NZ$300.  Dreame Glory Mix Gold – Dreame New Zealand

Our existing hair dryers is fine, but it's an older style and I find the noisiness quite bothersome.  I spotted this deal when buying something else from Amazon AU and hoped it would not end up being rubbish.  We used it for the first time a couple of hours ago.  It was the second quietest hair dryer that I've come across, and the air strength was every bit as good as our old hair dryer.  If someone in your life might need a new hair dryer for Christmas, consider grabbing this beastie.

It's a little different having the air intake at the bottom of the handle, but adjusting your grip is not a problem.  Like some of the reviewers on Amazon AU I would have liked another 30cm of length on the power cord, which is 1.2m long.  Our old hair dryer has a 1.5m power cord.  We'll be putting up with the slightly shorter cord in favour of the significantly reduced noise.

Just a shout-out for posting this. Bought one and it's indeed brilliant - tempted to pickup a few more for presents. Just need to find a small wall hook to stop it falling straight through the old one.
