Sony will prove match the r10 but not the r1. Harvey norman has a discontinued note on the r1 so suggested I ring again on Monday. I'd they can order it then I can get it for $225. If they can't get it in I'm gonna get the r10 for the $150.

Here is the SKU for noel leeming for 1RNC MK2 - 136996. They need to order from Sony as they have no stock anywhere and they can do it for $249 down from $499. I have placed my order.

I am sure they have that in the system too. Pop into NL and get them to order it for you.

They are blocked by supplier and come up as "prevent order".

Will try on Monday. Otherwise I'll get mdr-10rbt for $150 which is still very cheap, just not top of the line.

Perhaps some of those snoring straps would help on the nose? wink

Noel Leeming are unable to order Sony MDR-1RBT MK2. It comes up as stock code "prevent order", no one can tell me the reason why. I havn't been successful in getting anyone to price match Noel Leeming for this particular headphone. The cheapest price I've seen is $USD $305 + ~$20-30 postage from www.accessoryjack.com (legit site, i think they are based in HK)

EDIT: I got the MDR-10RBT $150, price match from Sony Store. (PS. Last day of the deal is today, so you'll have to order today)

I did a lot of research already.

The MDR R10BT is a good headphone, and $150NZD is very very cheap. Usually the cheapest price is $150USD then add on postage + hassle of an overseas warranty etc.

The MDR-1RBTMK2 is better. It is slightly larger and heavier (From memory 240g vs 160g) Sound is slightly better and the pads is slightly softer. It is not worth the premium given how cheap the R10BT is currently eg. $330USD from overseas vs $150NZ local.

The older MDR-1RBT (version 1) is not as good as MK2, lacks aptX, plus there are a few other subtle differences.

Ps. If I could of got mdr1rbtmk2 for 50% off I would of gone with that.

Have done a fair bit of research on the MDR-1RBT MK2 also, but have been unable to source at a respectable price. (Have been made aware that they have been picked up for as little as $250ish, but no luck for me).

At $150 for a pair of the MDR-10RBT I'm happy to purchase without auditioning, based on comments in other forums. Have ordered from the local Noel Leeming store. Will still keep an eye out for the MDR-1RBT MK2s though ;-)

Thanks for the heads-up on the sale!

What is this 'need' you speak of? I'm pretty sure the wife questioned me in regards to the headphones using the same word! (It was far easier getting the tick of approval with a $150 price tag than if I'd suggested the 1RBT MK2s!)

(Nothing flash in my "collection" Sennheiser PXC250-II, Koss PortaPro and a couple of pairs of UE400)

HAHA my Head-Fi Addiction is at $3000 and counting. My wife is an incredibly understanding woman, though to be fair I wouldn't have married one who wasn't.

There is a headphone thread http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=34&topicid=110896 you should poke your head and say hello :)

My wife is also incredibly understanding. And also the one bringing home the larger chunk of bacon! Unfortunately other priorities preclude me from venturing into the high end stuff. Next purchase looks to be possibly the FiiO E18 USB DAC & AMP (or similar)

(unfortunately well aware of the headphone thread. I feel my bank balance decrease just viewing the posts!)
