richms: How are UPS's off these inverter generators? Only ask because I tried powering my cheap APC one off an inverter from the car last extended power outage and it was not happy at all, making a loud buzzing noise and just clicking on and offline constantly. And yes the car inverter was 50Hz 230V not my 60Hz 110V one.

Yes it will run a UPS. This is exactly why I purchased it. The digital inverter generators output high quality power. I don't know whether these are true sine wave or modified sine wave.

You can buy UPS devices that are 'generator compatible' in that they will accept poor quality power, but finding a spec sheet that says this is challenging.

I had one of the $200ish 2stroke Bunnings ones and they were a pig of a thing to start, crappy spark plug lead etc. Started leaking oil. Went in the bin after the warranty expired. Could not get any UPS to run off it. This Warehoiuse jobbie has been nothing short of brilliant. Just over 12 months old now and still a piece of cake to start.

No, as I mentioned I picked one up from the local store. They did also mention they would have been able to have transferred one from another store had they not had one available.

No, as I mentioned I picked one up from the local store. They did also mention they would have been able to have transferred one from another store had they not had one available.

Think I'll head in to my local to pick one up today then too, great that people here all share the info, what an awesome community we have!

I just picked one up from the Albany store. They had about five left.

So my wife picked up one of these from the Takanini store and was "read a statement from a sheet of paper" that was "some sort of waiver" saying she had no right of return for warrantee/guarantee (though she was then offered an extended warrantee for $28 (10%?)) nothing was signed

just wondering what people think of this...
1) can they waive your CG rights even if telling you so?
2) can i open the box, test for sine wave and return it as 'not fit for purpose' if it doesn't meet the clean-power-supplied criteria the manual says it should?
3) are these maybe offcast (failed QC) product?

Yes it's a retail shop so it's covered by CGA (They can only avoid CGA if it's sold at auction). Please start a separate thread.

I don't believe you can contract out of the CGA, otherwise all retailers would try that on. To do so possible maybe a breach of the FTA too.

Bizarre! I certainly wasn't read such a waiver, and considering these could have been purchased on-line and there was no mention on the site of such an issue I doubt it's a requirement across TWH, and doubt that any limits they placed on your purchase can be enforced. Did you get anything provided in writing?

I wasn't aware of any ability to contract out of the CGA - unless the goods are sold for commercial purposes, of course.

Really? What if the goods are sold 'as is', which essentially contracts out of the CGA, as I have seen many auctions advertised in that way. I thought the new rules only applied to online auctions. If normal auctions have to be covered by the CGA too, I can't see auction houses wanting to cover the risk of having to deal with CGA claims for the goods they have sold.

Here's the details of the changes, there's new rules for online auctions and another set for certain types of other auctions, plus rules about trying to contract out of the CGA. I'm not a lawyer, I have no idea how enforceable or effective these rules changes will be.

isn't this just for new goods? "as is" would imply second hand I think
