Fabian: i went into the shop and managed to order one and paid a $130 deposit only to get a phone call 30 mins later telling me that it was online only, was going to argue that a contract had been made ....

Yep, a contract based on their terms & conditions : ie while stock lasts
:-)

This has got me looking at some of the Chinese Smartwatches. Gearbest have plenty, although the $40 cheapies arnt Android & are BT only . Some of the pricier Android models from GB might be an alternative ?

Just walked into the warehouse stationary near Pak n Save in Dunedin at 1pm. and they sold me one for $130.00. Its fully charged and on my wrist now. I want to spend the next few hours playing with it but have to get back to work :(

They had one left as of 30 minutes ago so if your are quick...

The watches were not on display so you'll have to ask for it

Papanui branch - that sounds promising...although unlikely to make it out to Sumner by COB. Monday it will be I think.

it does but I'll let you judge

drive to the shop: 10 minutes

picking up the watch and paying for it: 10 minutes

drive back to work: 40 minutes. (WTF, where did this traffic jam come from)

apparently there was an accident in the motorway, which is a straight line.. FFS
