Ok just went to noel leemings wairau park at 7.30am, it was a bit busy. All the cheap macbook airs have gone and the cheap samsung tv's people were buying 2 or 3 of them.

I got myself a 2TB portable hard drive for $85

D'you happen to know if that hard drive was just for that store - NL's cheapest HDD on their website is $119.99 and the cheapest on PriceSpy anywhere is $118.

It was part of their boxing day sale but it sold out online pretty quickly. You'll need to see if any stores still have them in stock now unfortunately.

Finch: What do you think the chances are of going into HN/Noel and asking for a further 10% off specific laptops and bargaining them down? Im thinking laptops around the 2K mark give or take. Paying with cash.

They are very busy with people that seem to be quite happy to pay the ticketed price for all sorts of things in the store so I wouldnt expect any of the staff to take the time to entertain any lower offers at the moment.

If anyone sees any reasonable deals on home theatre amps post it up - the ones that normally tend to show up with this haven't so far.

Nothing spectaular at harveys when I was there. All looked to be normal sale prices for them on those - 10-20% off the normal obcene prices.

Thanks just found a couple in Whakatane, which rather conveniently is where I live.

Sorry I don't.  It was on the handout as I walked in and behind the counter so you had to ask for it

Thanks to the strong US dollar really. But TVs have been massively discounted in general. Really depends on what you were after.

Warehouse stationary has desks in its sale. These are the usual cheap particle board kits, but they are sufficient as computer or study desks. I looked at a corner desk I wanted, only because it perfectly fit the space I had available, but I felt the $139 price tag was too much for the quality of the desk. When I checked the site today, it had been marked down to $96 so I got one. It's okay, though even with a $40 reduction it still seems a little pricey but it was worth it to me and it might be to someone else. The sale lasts until the 30th.

I looked for a toner cartridge.  The chainstore were running promotions, NL or someone did 30% off but the prices were 30% more than online stores so at the end the same.  NL didn't have my toner, HN did but that price assuming it wasn't discounted was 30% more than online stores.  PB Tech was discounted 5% to be 3% less than online stores but then you add another 5% for delivery charge (no pickups during sales) and maybe cos it is online when the stores are closed there maybe a credit card surcharge as well.

Well I got some bedsheets at Briscoes and cutlery and a frying pan.  25% off a oil filter at supercheap.
