Bunnings will also refuse to sell many of the same things at the 15% off price. I was getting some downlights and it was a model I had found online somewhere else slightly cheaper. They would sell me 2 of them, any more would be a "trade quantity" which is excluded.

Does the altered pricing match the price exactly, or better the price by a few cents? I am not a fan of stores that do price matching as it is a really lazy. Also many items are sold by one brand and not the other, and often brands have exclusive products so impossible to price match. I encountered a store that sold phones recently who wouldn't price match because their version that they sold included a free sim card pack, while the other stores version didn't, so they weren't 'exactly' the same, so they believed they didn't have to honour the price match guarantee.

I would ask to see where 2 downlights are defined as trade quantity. I see they do mention it excludes commercial quantities, but what does that actually mean? If you are a personal buyer buying some for your house, eg 8 for a living room, I can't see how that could be defined as commercial quantity.

I was just doing one room at a time. Found the same ones listed elsewhere at about 1/4 the price of there. I think they just wanted an excuse to not do it. Not as bad as noel leemings who seem to think that "thats less than our cost" is a reason to not do their advertised price match policy.

The thread is fake news "Boxing Day only" becomes extended to x. Extended now to y, extended now to z.

In Jan it will be "Cashflow Issue Sale" Although no doubt renamed to "We got more stock sale"

Unfortunately the ways things are priced in NZ and the marketing tactics many retailers now use, people hardly buy anything unless it is on some sort of sale. So many are more price rotations and marketing spin, than real sales IMO. And yes, it wasn't like boxing days of old 5 + years ago. I only purchased a memory card this year, and it wasn't really that cheap as I could have purchased online cheaper, I just needed a new one quite urgently.

That seems to contradict their 'price policy' on their website at https://www.bunnings.co.nz/price-policy , where in the video they say that 'if we find a lower price, we will drop our price so it remains the lowest'.

What miffs me is that Xmas was a time for gifts and seeing family.. Nows its a time for cash or Prezzy cards. When I saw some young ones a few years back running round, spouting about the cash, ugh. Not their fault though. Still disappointing

Haven’t read most of this, but I wanted to point out my price matching experience at NL on Friday.

JB Hifi had the iPhone 8 on sale from $1549 to $1399
I tried Harvey Norman who said they couldn’t price match because it was under their cost price
However Noel Leeming price matched no questions asked, without even checking their cost price. And I got Flybuys as well

This is crazy. Warehouse email has a 250W bench grinder for $20. My god. Same price as 2Kg of tomatoes in winter!

Now it wont be great, but for $20 to have one lying around is a great buy for the odd lawnmower sharpen and other stuff. I needed a planer for a 10 minute job so I bought an XU1 for $30. Its heavy and still works great.

Crazy alright, sorry for going off topic and I’m not criticising you personally, but I hear this way too often. And people wonder why we’re filling our landfills and oceans with crap, and I’m certainly no Green party member - couldn’t be further from it.
