My prior drive purchase was a Seagate iron wolf 14tb inside an external enclosure and that was doa as well.

I just installed my 4x 20TB drives, need to do some more testing, however it looks like all 4 have failed.

This is actually completely insane. There's something like a >50% DOA rate for the 20TB drives in this thread.

There's either a faulty batch or something went badly wrong in the shipping of these drives.

I had bought some 20TB WD externals off amazon just before this deal hit to schuck and all 5 are working fine so perhaps this is a quirk of these internal drives?

Yes, completely crazy. I wasn't too impressed with the cardboard packaging (they could move around quite a lot) but my 4 x 16TB drives have been fine so far.  Can always expect some failures - a few years ago I had 36 x 6 TB of these drives and had two fail early on but no issues since.

I've had a Seagate 14tb external and inside was an ironwolf just can't remember if it's regular or pro.
