Slightly cheaper book

https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/1338306359

I also posted this deal on Cheapies

https://www.cheapies.nz/node/40143

OzBargain I linked to in the description has some good discussion.

18TB no longer available. There have been a few of these deals lately. Hopefully that means we'll be seeing some price reductions across the board. I'm not quite ready to invest in new drives just yet. Need to research a new box for TrueNAS.

Would these Iron Wolf Pro NAS things be fine for general use in a PC - mostly for general media (movies) and use with Emby / Plex ?

Shame I just bought another couple of NAS HDD from PB three months ago. A couple of these would be cheaper and have double the capacity. I hope it comes again in a year...

Wouldn't mind a 14.  I made my parity disk 14 last year in preparation for just such a sale :D

This might be a price error. Same thing happened a few months back. Currency conversion issue perhaps. 18TB for example, USD$279.99 on Amazon.com, was AUD$279.99 on Amazon.com.au

Prices are unbelievable, probably 1/3 cheaper than the cheapest I have paid for a 16tb. But, I ordered one anyway. See what happens.

Agreed - this is substantially cheaper than even China/eBay pricing. I just ordered 2x16TB Ironwolf Pro for $538 NZD. Cheapest price for a single drive in NZ is $803. Hoping this price is in the sweet spot where it's low enough to be a screaming good deal but high enough that the orders actually get honoured.

A user on Cheapies says the same thing and says their order the last time this happened got cancelled. We shall see!

Ordered 4 x 16TB ones for my nas. Total cost shows AUD 990 approx including taxes.

I seriously think it's a pricing error. That's incredibly cheap.

Just in time - deal's gone on the 16TB. Only the 20TB left now I think.

Someone on OzBargain says theirs have shipped...

Gave in and ordered 4 of the 20TB drives. At that price, I don't mind paying the fees on imports $1000+. I already have a Customs Number, so it shouldn't be a major hassle. If they ship, that is.

18 is $733 now so clearly was an error. Ordered 2 of the 16s to upgrade one of the 2 slot nases. If they come they come, if cancelled no biggie.

Edit - 16 is now $638 so probably not gonna happen but fingers crossed it does.

Seems like when they revert to the higher price they also revert to being shipped from Am AU instead of Am US (for free). If that matters.
