Mine has a menu option for where the sound goes. Never tried setting it to optical as my soundbar on it is on the HDMI ARC plug. The thing is sometimes on powerup it reverts to internal speakers so I have to go in there and set it to the ARC option to get the internal speakers to shut up.

Mine doesn't appear to support ARC, but I imagine that this would not be an issue on models which do support it.
My stupid LG has 4 inputs, one feature on each of them. so no HDCP2.2 or 10 bit on the ARC input. Really have to wonder what the designers of the 4k tvs 2 years ago were smoking when deciding I cant have HDCP 2.2 and better than 8bit input at the same time.
Having brought a host of things (mostly electrical) throughout the year, I once again skipped Boxing Day sales again ... until this morning, when I purchased some headphones for when my current pair break
Sennheiser HD 239 Headphones - $78 via Mighty Ape
Jaxson: Samsung pretty cheap:

No 10 bit colour support, but the price is right.
This is the review of the US version of that TV according to avforums. But yeah, 8bit if you're into HDR

IMO the boxing days sales have been a big disappointment, from what they were a few years ago. Although they have been pretty poor for the last few years.. Some retailers have just use their normal price rotations, where they have a high 'normal' price, and the discount then brings it down to around what some other retailers sell the goods for. This is an interesting article on this type of selling method in NZ, where NZ on the surface looks to have some of most generous sales in the world. http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/money/87987456/shop-sales-deep-discounts-hard-to-decipher
The retailers now understand that they've 'trained' customers to wait for Boxing Day.
Hence the low, low prices prior to the Christmas holidays... all to try and keep turnover up. Otherwise, it's like a ghost town in-store.
Sure there are still the bulk buys and loss-leaders for the 'big day', but for the most part the prices are already low and the retailers are all chasing the limited buying public (those not saving their pennies for Boxing Day)...
Don't forget the 'Black Friday' and 'Cyber Monday' type promotions just prior to Boxing Day that lessen the impact of Boxing Day.
Having said all that... going into a mall in Auckland right now, you'd need to be an idiot. Those places are stacked!
Speaking of dodgy retailers I went into Noel Leeming yesterday to buy a washing machine and they refused to price match a Harvey Norman price telling me they only price matched website prices. Their T&C say they match "advertised prices" or quotes and both Commerce Commission and ASA both consider in store signage as an "advertised price"
One of the reasons I despise Harvey Norman is the dodgy stuff they do with pricing and in this case their website price was $400 more than their actual in store price (that I had a photo of). Noel Leeming sell the washing machine normally for $150 - $200 more than any other big name retailer incl Farmers, Noel Leeming and 100% chain so their 20% off special hardly makes it a special.
Farmers, Smith's City, Appliance Shed and all the 100% stores (incl Heathcote and Magness Benrow) are all selling the machine for between $80 - $170 cheaper than Noel Leeming's current 20% off price. Harvey Norman were $2 cheaper than the 100% stores advertised website price.
The attitude of the staff member was so bad I seriously wonder why they bother having a policy when people like him seem to make up their own T&C as they go along.
It wasn't long after I got home that I then saw this - Mitre 10 doing dodgy stuff as well. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news/article.cfm?c_id=3&objectid=11773922

All they have to do is put an exclusion into their price match that they won't do it over certain dates. Then everything will be clear. Hopefully some media does a story/investigation on these retailers before the next boxing day and put them on the spot to ask where they stand officially on price matching on these sales etc
I don't really see what dates have to do with it. It's not like Harvey Norman's price was hundreds cheaper than anybody else or had any special conditions attached. They just blatantly refused to match a price despite there being no basis in the T&C for doing that.
At the end of the day it's a loss for Noel Leeming, not me. I have a choice of multiple retailers who will all sell me the washing machine for ~$180 cheaper than Noel Leeming.

I'm sure that the employee could have handled it better, but I can understand corporate policy wanting them to pricematch to a live web-based price that they can check rather than to someone's possibly-photoshopped picture of a price tag.
