JamesN:

Started my order at 18:02

Found the SS 500GB instantly sold out so assuming they only had 1 in stock

But managed to get the other 5 items added and out by 18:10

3 refreshes only needed

I was after one of the Samsungs. 5:59 PM 20+ available 6:00 Out of stock. 30+ in others baskets. Guess you have to be quick with the mouse and I had stuff saved in a "Saved List" so all I had to do was click Load.

Im not sure what the fuss is about pricing. One thing I do know is their sale prices are usually 10% or so, which is still well above competitor pricing.

Then they throw in good deals like the p20 for $600 and the p20 pro for $799 (its nearest competitor being $889.

Man I bit pissed with the cart system not working with a p20 and p20 pro they appeared online and not sold out. It seems im not the only one experiencing their shambles of an online POS system. They need to get some new staff in that the corporate level.

Clearly marketing is working because every sale we all get sucked in, to only be disappointed. Unless something is stated at being an awesome price Im taking at as normal - a few dollars, if it looks like it might be competitive im sticking to checking price spy. I never attend in house sales as there is no garuntee of getting one of the items that beat market prices.

They really are pushing it with loyal consumers with this "massive" sale stuff, which KIWIS are using to meaning cost+10-20% across the board. not rrp-10-20% across the board, when their competitors are selling well below RRP evey day of the week.

I would hate to be on their chat system tonight, i bet there will be a few pee'd off people about limited stock etc or not being able to finish checkout.

I remember a few years ago there was a lot of issues around the apple watches they had for 50% off.  My flatmate got a good xmas present that year lol.  But it did create a lot of issues for pbtech

There system is a lot better than a few years ago.  A few years ago it would be broken for most of the night during the sale.  These days its only the first few minutes.  The only thing i can think off to stop it falling over (including their back end) is to release stock slowly during the sale however this will have an effect of people hitting refresh most of the night and people getting mad that they have to sit there for 6 hours trying to get the items they are after.

Also seems like the Mi-Store website is hosted on the same server. Both are down at the moment.

Tried to get the Samsung EVO 500GB SSD at the stroke of 6pm exactly - site crashed out then at 6:01pm it said sold out.

Then tried to get the 250GB version, got to the cart stage then went to choose payment - crashed again.  Repeatedly tried to get back into the cart and it wasn't working.

Waste of time.

I decided given the $$ invested in SLR the camera upgrade wasn't my thing. Now if only it would let me give them money..
