Bought stuff mostly from PB Tech (SSD, power board, SD cards) and Macpac (bagpack, puffer jacket, shoes). Pretty happy with what I've bought. Prices seemed pretty good. Only the shoes I got from Macpac was not discounted.

I did look into Noel Leeming as it was on the way to PB Tech. Everything discounted (up to 50% off) was still more expensive at NL than at PB Tech! I was also trying to find some cheap socks from clothes/sports shops but seems socks aren't part of the discounts at most shops. Maybe I should have tried Rebel Sports? Ended up just grabbing hiking socks from Macpac instead which were discounted and excatly what I needed for an upcoming trip anyway.

Acknowledge the discounts may have been better pre-Xmas. However the downside of buying pre-Xmas is you don't know if you'll end up getting similar stuff for presents. I got a drone and a dashcam so happy I didn't buy those before Xmas. Doing shopping post-Xmas means you don't have to worry about wether you'll receive another as a gift!

Only thing I picked up was the Logitech G502 Lightspeed from HN for $88. Nearest discounted price was $178, the sticker price is $249 so not a bad deal

Did click and collect for Tory Street, it was still packed at 3PM.. couldn’t believe it

Harvey Norman had a $1,000 to $398 laundry machine.  Pricespy said the next store was selling for $899.

Some duvet covers with Briscoes ... after having mine for the last 20yrs - no joke.  However down feather duvet inners were not available, nor egyptian cotton sheets.

Looking to get a new phone to replace my lg g6 which is decidedly worse for wear.  What would your pick be for the best bang for buck on boxing day sales?  TBH I'm not blown away by most of the deals...

I'm looking for something around $400-500 with decent camera and battery life.  Some level of IP water rating would be a bonus. Currently leaning towards an Oppo A9 2020 @ $400 or an LG G7 @ $500. Was hoping the Nokia 7.2 would be back down to $497 or better (Harvey norman briefly launched it at that price before putting back up to the RRP... but their boxing day deal is a mere $12 off lol)   Was also quite hoping we might have heard a bit more about Moto G8 plus availability by now but I guess not yet.

Any other suggestions for good boxing day deals or shall I just wait for the next sale?  :D

For the Toaster connoisseurs out there, Smith & Caugheys have the Dualit Classic on sale

https://www.smithandcaugheys.co.nz/shop/brands/dualit

This stuff is hardly ever on sale in NZ. You can also sign up for their newsletter and receive an extra 15% off your first purchase.

Tried that for the newgen 4 slice but: The welcome discount code does not apply to one or more items in your cart. Please refer to our Promotions page for full details.

That's a bit on the nose! They should let you use it for anything (I've used mine already)

I went to Rebel Sport to grab something yesterday afternoon and couldn't believe how crazy it was. The store literally looked like a war zone with shoes all over the place and sugar fueled kids playing with everything.

It was surprising to see the queues were so long and so many people were buying things - in the weekend leading up to Xmas they had better discounts on multiple occasions.

There is no need to offer huge levels of discounting on Boxing Day because people are going to go shopping anyway.

Perhaps they're targeting the teens who got money for Xmas?

BTW, I'm guessing you haven't literally been in a war zone? Or don't know the meaning of literally? ;)

And I bet they had some ad agency slaving away on Boxing Day producing all the TV and print ads for the extended sale😄

This is standard practice for them, they do it every time. They only bill it initially as a single day sale to generate hype and provoke urgency from shoppers. In reality the deals are the same ones that they offer every other week.

Briscoes really are damn good at what they do.

Grabbed these Sennheiser 4.5 bluetooth/noise cancelling headphones as a spare: my BOSE aren't holding up very well when worn in the summer heat (lawn mowing, mostly) and my sweaty head. $!55 including shipping to Auckland.

Only had them one day, but they seem to sound better than the BOSE. Otherwise no Boxing Day sales for me this year--weather's been too nice.

Bought one of these today at Noel Leeming  WD Elements SE 2TB USB 3  for $88 . Normal sticker price was $149.99.  Most likely WD trying to move old expensive stock.
