HostGator is the US based web host I've used for many years. Performance is good, and service is excellent. They're having a 75% off sale until 5pm Sunday 27th NZT (approx - I could be wrong). That's as low as about $3/month. Link here. (adblock plus hides the link).

NB: it's 75% off your first payment, so I suggest paying for 6 months or more in a go. They have a money back guarantee so it's low risk.

NB: the second link is an affiliate link, buy using the second link you're buying me a beer. If anyone gets the deal let me know and I'll donate 50% of the affiliate fee to Geekzone. The link isn't showing for all so PM me if you want it.

From what I can gather its 75% off the first 6 months.  Good host though. Ive been using them for 3+ years and any issues Ive had they actually have staff that can and do help you with them quickly and efficiently!

It's 75% off your first payment, whether it's a month or six months. They have staff that understand things as random as email SPF so that's a bonus.

Thanks Rich. Link fixed, but I think adblock plus is hiding the link in firefox and chrome, I can see it in IE.

Signed up for 6 months of the best option. Now to actually get the motivation to use it for something.

Well I thought I had. It took me to paypal which took me to a thanks for paying page, and then nothing happened, closed that tab and still had a page with a paypal button on it which opened a new tab to try to pay again.,

That is the most crap checkout process I have come across. Will see if I have an account otherwise will just get paypal to reverse it, if they cant make buying services work properly then I have little faith in their ongoing functionality.

Sounds like a PEBKAC error ;) Plenty of people manage it.

Check your paypal, if you don't see a transaction you haven't paid and can try again.
