When I tried to use my NZ credit card it redirected me to the NZ site without the special. Had to use my US credit card/Zipcode

Bought a $100 prepaid US gift VISA card from a reseller a few years ago. Used it for setting up some US accounts, paying for Google Music when it was US-only etc. Still have around $60 on it. I know other people have had success with the NZ-issued travel credit-cards for US payments though.

While not quite the same bargain, for those willing to move phone cos. Spark's new $19 "music pack" is pretty damn good value for money - 50 minutes call time, 500 texts, 500MB data, 1 GB FB/Twitter data and Spotify Premium. Given we already spend $13 a month on Spotify, that's not a bad deal as it's only an additional $6 for all the mobile services.

My only concern is that Spotify's in my name but the Spark account will be in my wife's - Spark doesn't think that'll be a problem though.

Personally I couldn't imagine switching to an inferior network to get free music :)
