May as well get this thread ready for the sales.  See if they are as good as the boxing day sales
Nothing has come up on sale finder yet but i'm sure the junk mail is only days away.

From experience last year, new year sales are fairly quiet on the technology front.

Your best bet if you are looking for technology stuff would be to wait for the Waitangi Sale - a good chance to save up!

I call many of these sales simply price rotations. They make sure that they are off sale for more days than they are on sale for. The best sale items are those that are loss leaders, and are not simply junk items to get people through the doors. But there are very very few items that are really great value on sale. They problem is that many stores have limited quantities and may say something like 'only 100 nationwide' but you have no idea how many a particular store may get. But they do also often have stock to sell at the normal price after the sale stock has sold. They may only limit the number that are on sale to a particular number. I think that sort of marketing should be stomped on, as consumers have no idea how many items a store may have on sale, and how many may have already been reserved by staff beforehand. It is just to get people thought the doors, and if they are disappointed, they often buy something else similar for more.

Would tbat be the annual one, or the monthly one, or the fortnightly one?

Perhaps. To me its cashflow. Convert the unsold Xmas stock to cash. Sales will be low as many people are tight for money after Xmas, holidays and sales. Profits are good to have obviously, but cashflow is more important. You can run a business at a loss, but you cannot run it without cashflow

Rebel Sport will have a sale too. Never to be repeated. 8000 pairs of some shoe brand will have to go.

harveys will have a new years deal involving no payments or interest for a long time too.
