Just bought these headphones - awesome value for $149... They've only just been released - bluetooth + noise cancelling and pretty good quality. Not audiophile quality, but good enough for me.

Can you plug them in and use wired as well as bluetooth? How do they compare to say some old HD515s?  (I'm not really an audiophile, just looking for something decent)

Yeh you can plug them in, or use bluetooth. Both modes support noise cancelling if desired.

In all honesty I can't remember what the hd515's were like. If you want to test the headphones out they have them on display at the Sony stores (at least they did at Sylvia park)

lol, I was excited, but when you click through on those headphones from the $1 madness sale, the price shows as $300. Clicking the original link shows the price as $149 but then the $1 deal doesn't kick in when you add it to your basket. Typical "sales" trickery.

Yeah, when you click into the all Dollar Deal eligible products (here are the headphones) they are all showing at full price.

Still, $149 for the MDRZX770BN's is still a great price.

I'm sure it's not, but there's something about having both prices listed on the website at the same time depending on how you arrive at the product that just shouts "smoke and mirrors" sales tactics :)

Ok, this is absurdly BS advertising.

How can something be $200 on one part of the site. and be $408 on another part with a second item for $1 _at the same time_

Can you add the half price ones as your $1 item? If not then doubly BS.

Thanks OP, have bought some for my old man for his birthday as we had just been discussing noise-cancelling headphones the other day.

Cheers,
Joseph

Yes, exactly, it is all about smoke and mirrors. $150 for the headphones is a lot of money, if you ask me. But if you compare to other headphones, to RRP, it almost looks cheap.

If you look at the prices of some of those android phones that come from China. They have a great camera build in, xGBs of storage, powerful battery, bluetooth, heaps of other electronics that headphones don't have. And they sell for the price under 150 :) Surely, 150 for headphones is too much...

@arvis: Cost difference is due to research and development, and using quality materials.
@Joseph: your welcome :) hope he likes them.

For anyone that missed the deal Sony Style have half price on their headphones.
I've been told it's on till Tuesday next week.
In store only it seems (or possibly even just Willis St in wellington )
