Haven't been following SSD prices recently, but, this caught my eye....cheapest I've seen. And,

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00S9Q9VS4/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Sequential Read (up to) 520MB/s
Sequential Write (up to) 350MB/s

Just $73USD , including standard shipping.

Tempted, just to have a spare one hanging around. Most people would not notice a difference between this and the top of the range SSD's anyway.

I'd probably also throw in some of these...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SK6TDYU/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3MH3MAWW32XOH

and...

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00TB8XZOK/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

[edit] changed to usd, sorry.

I couldn't believe 73 NZD so I took a look for myself, it's actually 73 USD (67.99 + 5.08 S&H), so ~110 NZD before conversion charges.

Oh how quickly times change when $110 for a 240GB SSD is only an OK deal.

ahhh sorry, not sure why i didn't see that -- i thought i checked too. Just wanted it to be so i guess :0

I see why i did this now....below the price on the order confirmation page...

"Change card currency from NZD"

in my excitement I guess I misinterpreted that to be 'price in nzd' ha ha.

Blame overseas countries who are undercutting NZ on milk. Or the buyers who aren't buying as much as they were. They are wanting to weaken the exchange rate, so overseas income can be converted to more NZ dollars. But this weakens the NZ dollars buying power. I expect that online shopping from overseas websites will drop a lot if it continues to drop.

Considering you can buy a kingston SSD 240GB for $126 +gst, just $16+gst more, and that would have a NZ warranty, it isn't a particularly good deal in todays market.

Depends on your perspective. Personally, I'm tempted by the amazon offer. 30% discount over your example, and SSD's are very reliable in my experience.   And, in the unlikely event something does go wrong and you can't be bothered returning, you're not really that much out of pocket anyway.

But, I see your point too.

Or you could look at it this way.  Because you purchased it you obviously had a need for it.  If it is faulty and you decide you cannot be bothered to return it the assumption is that you will still need one and therefore would probably avoid further risk and purchase it locally for $145 (given the previous poster's indication of local price).  You would then be out of pocket for $255 which is that much more out of pocket :-).
