Hope the driver still gets paid in full, and doesn't have to take a cut from their earnings when the coupon is used.

As a so-called "Uber Geek" you should know that as with all their coupons and discounts and free rides, the driver will get paid their usual fare and Uber is the one who takes the hit ;)

Not always the case though. Although Uber isn't a franchise, I know with some  franchises, the franchise often cover a lot of the cost of promotions that the franchisee decides to run coupons. eg if someone has a coupon, they pay for that out of their pocket, rather than the franchisee
