But bad news is you need to a "prime member", which is a one-year membership, which is US $100.

I think most people here have Prime membership, myself included.

Thanks Mauricio.

I think that's a wild assumption. I for example, don't have a Prime membership.

Agreed.  What does an Amazon Prime membership offer us in NZ?

Prime music, Amazon instant video, free shippingin the US.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

does prime, sorry off topic, offer better shipping rates to NZ?  this is why I never saw the point, yay amazon instant video (already have netflix, not much extra value there), free shipping in the US (yay, oh wait I live in NZ, no value there), prime music (already have google play music).

so what does it get me?

I have noticed there have been a lot less people buying stuff from overseas recently due to the exchange rate drop. But that may change after NZ prices rise on imported goods, to reflect this drop.

I use it heaps to get things to my reshipper from amazon and gifts to people in the US. It means I have prime music on my amazon echo, and there is different stuff to netflix, but you need a DNS unblocker to get it and TV's are pains with regions for their apps so you need a firetv or games console to watch on.

Also gets earlier access to some of the deals, and they sell out before they go to available to everyone.

My Amazon Prime membership is one of the best things I pay each year. Amazon Video, Amazon Music, free shipping, priority pre-orders (To my knowledge I was the first in NZ to get the Echo).

this is what is confusing, you say free shipping, so you get things delivered to NZ for free?

Its free within the US, I have had things delivered to reshippers, friends in hotels, relatives, gift exchange recipients, suppliers to ship with orders via pallets. Well paid for itself in just that some years.

No, 2 day free shipping within USA. I use drop shippers or collect stuff when I am there.

The deals aren't for Prime only: "Prime members will get the first crack at more than 30,000 deals through Prime Early Access and all customers can find great deals throughout the season"
