I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. Hmmm... said NZ$390 to me.

Also has 256GB for NZ$118 and 512GB for NZ$234. Plus NZ$16 shipping.

Still makes it a good deal :) Thanks

When you enter a postcode to calculate shipping, it also calculates estimated VAT/GST and duty, and adds it to the final total.  Does anyone know if Newegg collect this to pay on your behalf, or is it just a heads-up that we might have to pay GST+duty when it comes through Customs?

Yea talked them about this. They will take it at the sale and then if you don't need to pay for it, will refund you. While Amazon will only take it if they need to at the time of the sale. Hope this helps.

Balm its gone!

Odd. I didn't get any mention of GST or duty on my order. Maybe because I only ordered one 256GB drive, so there's none to charge?

I seem to recall the cut off is 150 or 200 or something?

Rediculously cheap, wish I had the money.

Or for the next 12 hours on Amazon,
SanDisk Ultra II 960GB SSD, around NZ$360 shipped.

Dang! That's a good deal. Especially since NZ$360 is below the $400 GST trigger, so would be about $100 cheaper than the NewEgg 1TB offer.

Hmm tempting since my current striped small ssds for steam library aren't quite big enough.

Several of those striped will see me right for ages.

I have bought 2 caddys recently that have sector size translation in them like the boards inside the external drives from WD and seagate. Means that you cant pop the drive out and use it on native sata and have the data still accessable. Really annoying, and hard to find out ahead of time, it looks like bragging about support for > 2TB is a possible thing that gives it away.

Something to watch out for if you are planning on using the drive both ways.
