It's Christmas Day, who's up for watching TradeMe's "Unwanted Gifts" auctions :-)

I'm watching out for the tweets like "I wanted an iPhone for Christmas and all I got was a Ferrari and a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+. Don't my parents love me?!"

I am sporting a top notch pair of Bolle Traverse sunnies.  Awesome  but just look ridiculous on me.  Oh well off to Trade Me they go.  +1 for universal gift vouchers (i.e. cash)

Annoying those 'traders' that jump on the bandwagon adding the key words to their listings.  Grrrr.

Dunnersfella: Time to get my earphones on Trademe... *sigh*

Why not use them until such time as you can afford to buy the ones you really want?

I guess I am old fashioned and have different values, but to me the very act of putting a gift on TradeMe shows a real lack of appreciation. Sadly more and more people are doing it though.

What if he is a hard worker and saved up to buy the 5 pairs that he likes and now got gifted a $20 pair he doesn't want to use?

People (myself included) can't afford to be 'old fashioned' these days.  I fully expect people I buy gifts for to be able to at least exchange them if the shop has an exchange policy (if they don't then I reconsider the purchase)or sell them if it's really of no use.  I would not be offended, in fact I would be more offended if they didn't use the gift or I had made a wrong choice and they person didn't do anything or say anything about it.

I would be more pissed if someone got a gift and just stuffed it in a drawer and never used it. That makes it a waste.

Oh I agree and would hope that such people would donate it to close family and friends, or, better still, those disadvantaged and in real need. Then I would say and acknowledge - that's a friend worth having.

But somehow I don't see those who are willing to change such gift(s) into cash through TradeMe - often for less than it's value, really care about anyone else other than themselves, do they? The true waste is putting it on TradeMe for the other bottom feeders to take advantage of.
