I was surprised to know that the Sony Store in Wellington would be closing down by the end of this March as its lease expires.  I was told by one of the staff that it's not seeking relocation as yet.

As a result, they are currently clearing all its stocks storewide; most of its headphones, AV receivers/amplifiers as well as hi fi audio components are offered with a 50% discount!  And its various camera ranges are also highly discounted.  It's definitely worth a visit there if you are fond of Sony's products.

I picked up one of its flagship headphone amplifier PHA3 for $779 (originally $1299.99)

The prices things are selling for are mental

It's not that their lease expired it's that the owner was continually putting up the rent. They won't be opening a new store

I can check in an hour or so for you, but are you missing a number after "20"?

Do you mean things are really cheap, or very expensive?

Do you mean the 55-210 e-mount lens (SEL55210) that normally sells for $649.95? If so, I was in the Wellington store yesterday and asked about that very one and was quoted $487, which is "only" 25% off. I'll keep my eye out though - it might get cheaper the closer it gets to the closing date.

@freitasm: Maybe merge with the other thread:  Sony store in Wellington closing down end of March?

Edit: Although that one's in the Android forum - perhaps not the best place?

I saw that too over the weekend and forgot to raise the thread.

Yeah if you're in Wellington and looking for a deal it's worth checking out.

Very often Sony gear is on sale in one place or another, but these clearance sales tend to be lower than elsewhere.

So, it's more like 15% off a normal sale price, which is still good if you're looking to buy.

Realise now I forgot to check out PS4s...

They have/had some mirrorless cameras.  Not as good as the DSE mental fire sale recently, but still cheaper than you'd find elsewhere.

What was the availability and cost of lenses like?

I remember they had some lenses, but sorry can't provide any additional info past that.

I genuinely wasn't in there for very long.

Depending on the TV model I think I saw anything from a couple of hundred to a thousand off the price, but I suppose it depends on whether it is a display model or not.

Needed a simple handycam so picked up the CX405 for $255, which was definitely far less than it's historical pricespy price.

Get in quick - when I was in the Wellington store on Wednesday there were already a number of empty spaces where TVs used to be.
