Believe me when I say this is an awesome deal...

I have the W273 and it's the best dedicated exercise mp3 player.

I also have the W273. Absolutely hands down the best earphones I've ever used for exercise etc.

This one on JB looks interesting though. Built in GPS.

I like the waterproof of the W273 though which these on JB don't have.

The battery life on the W273 is also a little short when using Bluetooth. It's only caught me out a couple of times not a big deal unless you are doing marathons. I'm a half marathon type so no big deal.

If these ones at JB had better battery and waterproof I'd be all over them.

Still as you say though GREAT price!

They are rated for swimming. I'd find that a bit weird.

Great review of them here.

OP was right. Complete bargain! They retail at 300 USD according to the review.

Picked some up over the weekend, they are OK, the sound etc is good but god that app is awful.

The wear of them is a little out for my ears as well which is a bit disappointing.  I was planning on using them for running and swimming however they will end up just being my standard gym headphones.

I will keep using my "the dash" headphones for swimming for now.

Ordered some online. Just waiting for delivery. I'll post back with what I think when I have had time to test them out.

Just wondering why is the app so bad?

I am sure it would be fine for running etc but there is a button on the headphones that will kick things off and then the woman yells at you and does not shut up.  Also when you stop it reads out all the stats and I have not found a way to stop it doing it, while this is happen the app just hangs with no way to back out of it unless you kill it.

I saw on the review the nagging voice of the "coach" and I thought well I'll be turning that off straight away!

You guys got me interested.

How does it do the heart rate monitoring?  Does it come with a chest strap?

Built into the earphones. Have a view of the video link I posted. It explains it a bit there. It's apparently quite a decent heart rate monitor.

Mine arrived yesterday.

Good stuff.

Great price. Great sound. Great fit. Waterproof. Great battery.

Bad stuff.

As someone else said. The app isn't great. You can't use Spotify or any other streaming service with the app. It only works with pre loaded music. So if you use Spotify you are simply buying a Bluetooth pair of earphones. You lose the ability to use the GPS and heart rate monitor. You can only use them for runnig. No other activity is supported.

I'll hang onto it and maybe give the app another go. Otherwise I will just use them as BT earphones. I wouldn't be happy if i'd paid $400 for them which they are on the Sony NZ site but for $179 I'm happy.

Yes I feel the same way, I would not be happy at $400.

The fit for me is not that great however that is because of my ears more than anything :(
