Less than half the normal price at HN. Anyone have any experience with these?

Thanks for posting. I've ordered some based on the Amazon reviews. Sound like good headphones.

The brand in general is cheap nasty crap with a brand name and a 500% marketup slapped on it.

They might have gotten better since being brought out by Apple, but somehow I doubt it, given Apple are also an overpriced brand for people without good sense :-P

From what I have read, I wouldn't disagree. However I would disagree about Apple being overpriced. For an iphone or ipad, you are buying both hardware and software development, and expect to be support for at least 3+ years for the device. In general they perform as good, if not better than their competitors and have a higher build quality to them from my experience, and I have neer had an ios device fail. Their cameras on their phones are usually at the top for camera phones. If you compare it to android flagship phone, device support can be dropped not that long after the newer models come out, and you can be waiting forever to get new updates. It is one reason why most iphone users are on the newest ios version, iOS 9, while most android users are on older versions, such as lollipop and jellybean. But their are pros and cons with either.

Too true, who in their right mind would buy a phone that is discounted below the level a year old second hand iphone sells for a month after release? Sounds like a very poor investment indeed.

Swings and roundabouts my friends.

^^ I disagree to the above. The new Android flagship phones (I don't want to mention brands here and get into a debate) have a far superior and better performing camera's in my view.

For the first time in her life my wife thinks she needs to get away from a iPhone just because the camera is not good compared to the rest.

Getting this back on track, are there any other colours marked down, besides douche fluoro green?

Are these particular ones any better than previous marketing, super bass, no mid or treble versions. Any thoughts on these specific models?

They seem to be decent. for $129, i think they would probably be some of the best you can get..

Pretty much anything by Shure, Sennheiser, AKG, Phillips or Sony etc around the same price point would be better.

As above, Beats are pretty poor in terms of sound quality compared to most of the competition and thrive/survive based on the whims of fashion and perceived desirability.

You are right. But i dont know anything by Shure at that price. Sennheiser would definitely be much better. But again, at that price, it would be one of their lower end ones. Sony would be good as well, but again, at that price, it would be a lower end one.

I think i put in quite a stretch when I said some of the best. I correct myself to saying, it would be a decent one at that price.

Yeah, for Shure I guess you would be looking at entry in-ear buds rather than headphones.

Availability in NZ is a pain, but for around $120, I would consider something like the AKG y50 - same bold styling, but better sound and build

Not sure if anyone bought these, mine arrived this morning.

First impressions;

  • Packaging is very "premium" (nice solid box, good case, two cables, handle Velcro cable ties etc)
  • Headphones are solidly built
  • Sound is good but is bass heavy (as expected)
  • For on ear they cut out a lot of background noise (my current headphones are over ear)
  • They fold down to a very compact size

As someone who said they'd never buy a pair of poser "Beats" I'm pleasantly surprised.

I would never pay the inflated price of $429 (on the box) though.

Lets see how they go (with my big head I'm expecting them to get uncomfortable after a while)

What about the color? It looks like its something that basic RGB cant convey how bright and gharish they really are.

I believe the green was the only colour on offer. Its garish but not as bright as the product images convey.
