Cool, I couldn't see the price for this model on the NL site (it's the older non touch model, so only has 2 coffee & 2 milk buttons)
Edit: Was that the sale at ASB Showgrounds? - what was the price?
It is my personal opinion that anyone who purchases and uses these sort of "pod" coffee machines need some serious coffee and economics counseling.
I am a long black drinker and I have only ever experienced crap coffee when offered one of these 'packaged' coffees. Further more, the model of supplying the cassettes must be one of the better business models of recent times - at the expense of those who know no different!

I was of this mindset for a long time. I too am a long black drinker, but I find a long black with my preferred Nespresso genuine capsule is at least as good, if not better than the long black my expensive Saeco machine used to make (it broke).
I find the generic captures far worse tasting, and yes it's more expensive, but I only drink a few pods a week and the vast reduction in machine cleaning is a huge benefit.

I still find it economical, as the wife & I have a coffee each in the car on the way to work, instead of stopping for a $4-5 coffee each day. It's also easy when getting ready for work.
The generic brands are horrible, We have a machine like this at work, and a lot of the guys bring their own capsules. The only one which tasted OK was the Jeds Extra Strong. Everything else is weak and stale.
Pods and milk aside, is there any difference in coffee output between the machines? Say if you're just into a short or long black - do the cheap machines taste as good as the expensive versions?
Ive found that my cheap genuine nespresso machine is fine, but my cheap generic one that uses the carts is less than fine quality wise - seems to have issues with some of the flavours not really giving me the right amount, I am assuming that the contents of the cartridge are different and it needs more pressure which the cheapie cant do.
Milk from the spinning thing in the heated cup thing is meh, and a PITA to clean it out. Really should look at the one that has the tank that can be moved to the fridge, but I own enough coffee machines already.
My big jura self grinding automated one is too much effort, it is always demanding cleans because 1 person doesnt use enough coffee to keep if from going into the cleaning demanding timeout thing.
Ive had a Nespresso machine before but it died within 2 years. We like the coffee but noticed the prices going up and up.
When our machine died we got ourselves a 2nd hand Krupp's Semi automatic machine which takes Beans as well as Ground. We usually have 1-2 cups per day with this.
We also purchased a Back up Generic brand Pod Nespresso Coffee Machine and tried out the various brands available which are increasing both from the supermarket and the coffee roasters. We dont tend to use this machine much. . Handy to take away if needed.
That is certainly a good price though
