Is anyone there or has anybody checked it out?

I'm really interested in seeing what discounts there are on a few specific ones.

Dell XPS

Hp Spectre

Basically anything with a SSD and Full HD screen if the price is right.

Any other deals worth mentioning?

Generally these sales are average, thought I would ask anyway.

I saw the XPS15 for just under $3k. i7, 16GB, 512SSD. Down from $3499. Not sure how that compares with anywhere else, as I already have an XPS13 and aren't in the market for another laptop.

XPS13 I think only had a few dollars off ticket ($2380 or thereabouts?).

My wife always gets cost + GST as a work discount and as you would expect, the size of the deal is entirely depended on how much a product is marked up!

When I last went in, things like a PS4 console or games had very little mark up and thus the deal was worth almost nothing.

My Bose QC25 headphones however were a different story and I saved a ton on them!

YMMV depending on the item

They had 15% off Dell a week ago, XPS 15 was $3000~ (but it's last years end of line) - XPS 13 (the 6560U 8GB and 256GB) was $2000~

Yep, things like headphones, or items not already marked down, you will see a big saving (also, accessories, like keyboards, mice, phone cases/cables).

Bigger ,non-base model TVs (that they aren't price-fighting/loss-leading) etc you will also see big discounts.

Home appliances and whiteware also - good time to get xmas pressies. I just picked up a Fitbit Charge2 for SWMBO at Albany for $233.50. Not a huge discount of retail, but they are a popular product that you don't often see discounted.

Agree, but I guess not everyone realises there are some products that have hefty margins and some with slim.

As above, items like ipad cases, cables etc tend to have big margins, which is why they're often thrown in as teasers/bonuses etc by sales people to help push a sale.  These can be really good if you have access to one of these cost plus deals.

So, whilst I tend to think of them as a gimmick sales event, there is the potential for good deals, depending on what you're after.  You'll just have to go and check :)

No discounts on Bose products as per their fine print. If anyone visits the store and finds Bose SoundTouch 10 / 20 / 30 being on specials please advise.

I'd be interested in a price on a PS4 if anyone is visiting.  Their price of $399 for the 500GB model already seems very good though

How do you find the small trackpad? I have a XPS 15 and find the trackpad is good, but can't imagine anything smaller!

How does this match up with this post, which claims the QC35s are going for $431 as part of the same sale?

Edit: sorry, that sounded a bit rude! I totally see the mention of Bose being excluded in the fine print, so am confused as to how in the other thread they're saying the QC35s are available at that price?

Headphones are portable audio, the exclusion is on audio, so the soundtouch would be excluded, headphones not.

edit: actually headphones are headphones, which only has fleamarket excluded.

Thanks for clarifying; my nephew's after a pair, so I want to be able to give him accurate information!

Trackpad is fine.

Maybe the newer ones have a smaller trackpad? Mine is about 18 months old I suppose (maybe newer XPS13-9350). Trackpad is 10.5cm across by 6cm deep.

Just picked up 3 (one for me and one for each of the kids) of these Swann Navigator HD Dashcam for $63 a piece from the Willis St store (none left on the shelf there now, sorry).

JB HiFi website lists them at $139 JB HiFi Dashcam
