This is only a 2.4GHz or 5GHz (single band) 802.11a/b/n AP however for $36.00 it is a bargain for a fully managed access point (not to mention also it is made by Ruckus). There is also what appears to be a limited supply of outdoor 802.11ac AP's available.

Xclaim Xi-1 Indoor AP (Spec Sheet) ($36.00): https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETXCL1002/Xclaim-Indoor-Single-Band-24GHz--5GHz-Selectable-8
Xclaim Xo-1 Outdoor 802.11ac AP (Spec Sheet) ($149.99): https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/NETXCL1005/Xclaim-Outdoor-Dual-Band-24GHz--5GHz-Concurrent-80

Just thought people may be interested if they're wanting to improve their home WiFi with decent ceiling mounted AP's.

Sounds interesting. Never heard of these.

Does it come with a power point or do I need to use a POE RJ45 wire? The current wire I have got is not powered I think as it comes from upstairs Netgear modem and I am using a Spark supplied one as a AP (disabling DHCP).

Just ordered one of the indoor ones for deployment at a sibling's house. $37 seems a steal, even if it isn't cutting edge tech.

Thank you for that. Does the PoE injector have a power adapter or something I should look at buying separate?

Sorry about the question, never used one.

A poe injector is an ethernet  in and out with another DC point to your AC plug, so no need to buy anything else

Interestingly Ingram Micro have been out of stock of the outdoor AP for a couple of weeks now, I'm surprised they've still showing them as available unless PB Tech have some in stock still. The buy price from Ingram was the bargain of a lifetime!

Worth a try though. The worst that happens is you get a refund...

These don't seem to be well reviewed, but I am tempted. Anyone know if there is any OpenWRT support in the works?

The indoor ap is good.
I had a customer who just had no end of wifi issues with basic routers supplied by their ISP.
We tried a lot of stuff to get it working but after a few weeks issues would be back.
I put in one of the xclaim aps and haven't had an issue again in over two years.

Does the Xi1 package include a patch and PoE Injecter power cable?

My brother's one arrived Monday. Didn't have any ethernet cables, nor even the clover-leaf plug to connect the PoE injector to the wall. There is a space in the box where it's clearly meant to be but wasn't included for some reason. He's meant to be taking it back to PB Tech for the cable but I haven't heard the results of that particular conversation.
