Link to amazon. came up in a facebook group I am on

$83.97 + $5.11 Shipping & Import Fees Deposit to New Zealand

Compare to $399 at Noel leeming and that's quite a decent price. But charging GST will solve all those retailers problems right ;)

Reading the reviews at face value, many are saying these cards may be too good to be true. That is, fake.

There is one for a cent more that is sold by amazon themselves so should have no problems with that, just the possibility of the 1c cheaper one sold by someone else. In anycase amazon stand behind things they sell if theyre fake.

Check out the second link, plenty of people have had issues with Sold By Amazon stock. The issue is that to save space, the items are mixed together at the distribution centre's as they have the same barcodes on the packaging. This means real Amazon.com stock is mixed together with Fulfilled by Amazon stock. It only takes one seller to go rouge for counterfeits to get in the system.

As more third-party sellers have signed up to offer products through Amazon and use its order-fulfillment services, the Seattle-based giant has allowed many to pool their inventory with supposedly identical items supplied by other sellers—in essence commingling products from third-party merchants with those supplied directly to Amazon by the brands themselves. Sometimes, fakes can get mixed in.

Justin Dunham, a mathematics professor in Kansas City, Mo., said his wife bought him what was supposed to be a Tovolo King Cube Ice Tray from Amazon. A receipt for the $8.50 purchase shows it was sold by Amazon, not a third-party seller. […] A few other Amazon customers also complained in reviews that the trays they received were imitations. It wasn't clear which seller supplied the trays to the warehouse.

They dont have the same barcode.

Part of warehousing with amazon is covering all UPC barcodes and affixing an amazon one to the goods. The goods from different suppliers should have a different barcode on them.

A ha, gotcha... this is something that at least we've not (till now) been aware of... thank you very much QJay, this is very tricky:

“Fulfilled by Amazon” only means that the product is being shipped from an Amazon warehouse to you after being sold by a third-party seller. It’s not a guarantee that the seller is trustworthy or that the product is genuine.

To be more confident of your purchase, you should check to make sure that your product is labeled “Ships from and sold by Amazon.com,” which means Amazon is directly selling a product without a third-party seller involved." (Michael Zhang, petapixex.com)

I just ordered one of these for my Surface GoPro.  You guys do have me a bit worried so I checked and mine is the "sold by and fulfilled by Amazon" one.  I did read the reviews complaining about fakes before ordering and I intend to test the crap out of it and return it if there are any problems.  I received a incorrect item from Amazon recently and did my first return.  No dramas at all, I got to keep the incorrect item, they didn't ask for any proof and gave me a partial refund which covered the full cost of ordering the replacement.  It makes returning something to a local retailer feel like getting punched in the face.   Be aware with Amazon that they mingle reviews from multiple sellers and sometimes different sub models of a product so if you read a review stating something then sometimes it doesn't apply to the item you are buying.

Any way you look at it getting almost half a TB of expandable storage for my miniature 2 in 1 windoze tablet thingie for $100 is fairly amazing.

Running h2testw over it now, its slowed to 55 MB/s write after a while in the 90's, will be a very very long time writing to it. Will update with the outcome of this possibly later tonight or else tomorrow morning. Certainly not a particually fast card but I didnt expect that.

@richms, how'd the test go?

Also as a side note, I've ordered over 80 things from Amazon over the last year and haven't (that I've noticed) received any fakes, this includes SD cards. And I do try do the basic checks when I receive the goods and have returned a few due to damage in transit, which Amazon have always been super nice and paid return shipping.

I also pretty much only buy from "Sold by: Amazon Export Sales LLC" if at all possible.

It tested fine, Will clear out my old 128 and chuck it in the phone later on. Its faster than my 128 meg cheapie thats in there so I hope it will start to let me record video to the SD instead of just internal.

I think you have a 4gb limit when recording to SD card.  It's one advantage of the Note 9 with 128gb of base storage, it's big enough to not worry about storage.
